Yep they lucked the f*** out. Apparently the facilities at Abbey Road were actually kinda s*** compared to American studios at the time and they just pulled off miracles with what they had.

I feel like Village Green was the moment they finally caught up as far as sound quality goes. Face To Face and Something Else definitely sound like relics but that sweet sweet mid 60s four track sound is my ultimate comfort zone so I don't mind at all.

I heard Something Else when I was like 15 and it took me ages to adjust to the mix. Crazy panning and the vocals all over the place.

Beatles fans are spoiled. Not only do they get the best mastering engineers but fans are putting out some incredible remixes:

One of his best verses for a while and I love all the features on Pt 2

People had mixed feelings about the Larry Hoover s*** but the way it blends in with an album about children (Kanye) being separated from their parents (Donda) for reasons beyond their control is deeply sad and brilliant

I don't think you recommended either of Caetano's 1975 albums to me

    Edit nm I have Joia

He surprisingly peaked with late 70s run and never fell off basically

After already fathering tropicalia /Os mutantes generation in late 60s

First Kink album I had was a early career compilation and the dusty magic I heard on the crusty mixes of songs like Sunny Afternoon, Dead End Street and I'm Not like Everybody Else instantly converted me and acclimated me to the band's general sound quality.

I had already marinated on Elvis' Sun Sessions by then too so anything that's sounded cleaner than that primordial dust was A-OK.

I love the Sun Studios sound. Was fortunate enough to have gone to the studio when I was a kid and we were traveling through Memphis.

  • Anyone got the link of the livestream replay?
