they mostly got rid of the extra HR, accounting, management and administration that was bulked up from 2 billions-worth mergers

as far as ive seen there hasnt been many devs, creatives or designers laid off

still cant see why they cancelled the Survival game after spending MILLIONS on it

went from about 22000 to 20100 employees

it was unannounced so who knows the state of the game. probably wasn't up to snuff.

Still don't like this idea of these mega corps owning everything.

big corporations have owned 90% of games that we have played since we were kids

Square, Sega, Capcom, Sony/PlayStation, Nintendo, Microsoft/Xbox, Rockstar, EA, Activision, Blizzard etc etc etc

most gamers wont even know how this affects them since 2024 games will be just as good/full as 2023

yea but they were separate entities. people want like 3 companies to own it all. there was a reason that microsoft struggled and had pushback against the Activision blizzard acquisition. Nintendo is a big company but Nintendo is just Nintendo.

think of Embracer Group that spent money on all those acquisitions. Theyve so far had nothing to show for it and instead are just shutting down studios.

First off, I don't know why you're separting activision/bethesda/xbox since they're all one entity now. That's the point.

Secondly, every time microsoft or sony acquisitions a company people are always posting "who should they buy next??" like it's some game. I see people all the time saying Sony should buy Capcom or FROMSoft.

I'm not saying there's a specific 3 corporations that will own it all but if we just let them run rampant with acquistions there will be.

We had that leaked email from Phil saying acquiring Nintendo would be his golden moment.

If one corpo could own it all they'd def try.

I agree that I shouldn't worry about that happening soon but I am going to worry about it happening at all.

Instead of spending the time to build talent and release quality games Microsoft opts to just buy up companies that have previously been third party because they need to fill up their failing exclusive line-up.

Also, laying off people. While we don't know the full scale of whom has been layed off, but I don't believe 1800 people is stricly redundent positions. Especially with a game being cancelled. I'm sure lots of creatives are out of a job as well.

Personally I wouldn’t be able to stan a company that did something like this. Self awareness and empathy would meet with reality and I wouldn’t be able to. Like if you’re still a Xbox stan, don’t you feel weird? Because I feel sick
