A lot of the post BvS Superman fans weren't around for the pre Superman drought era. We just had smallville that was ending. Returns which was an ending to an already finished 30 year old story.

No shows, and maybe like 1 note worthy animated movie.

There was no Superman to talk about. So man of steel and BvS drop and that is the most Superman that the newer generation knows now. And let's face it they aren't watching the old shows or movies or reading the comics.

Now let's look at Batman. The Dark Knight is literally all some people know of Batman and you can tell cause whenever you veer away from it they start complaining about how it's not like TDK. And the Batman drought wasn't nearly as big as the Superman drought if I recall.

The difference is that Snyder made great casting decisions and wasn’t just trying to keep his friends employed.

Ex: Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne. Great casting, that should’ve paid off. Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner is not good let alone great casting.
