    Weird comment but

    Barry cant swim
    Honey dijon
    Duke boara
    Tsha
    Bonobo

most recent albums all rolled out like this if i remember correctly. I think elkka is doing the same thing right now

just looked up Barry Can't Swim, how is he doing the same thing? it looks like he had a standard rollout, dropping a few singles and then a project. How is that the same as Yachty dropping a single as an EP, and then dropping another separate EP with a single song added

I missed the part of the yachty ones where it said “EP”, but i meant that each single is a new “release” on the streaming platform with all previous singles tacked on below

So yeah it is kinda different ig, dont really agree w making it seem like each single released being its own “EP”

    not for the GOATS

You won’t catch YEAT doing this nonsense

    why?

because he has an engaged fanbase that are always looking for him to drop something new

this strategy is good for an up & coming artist

but for someone established, it makes you seem thirsty for streams

& before you call me a hater, I really enjoy Yachty’s music

he’s dropped a lot of heat this past year, Holster, Slide, and Solo Steppin Crete Boy are all really dope
This style of release doesn’t vibe with me personally

    guess I’m just an oldhead

This strategy actually helps introduce new fans to your recent music as well as getting a few streams bumps to those songs. It’s got nothing to do with being an old head, this is just a release strategy that any artist can use. There’s a reason there’s a whole term for it lmao.

You ain’t gotta big up one artist to downplay another, especially when you doing it to a black man and the other dude white

I asked because the person who referenced it and used him as an example in the interview is a major music platform founder, so someone high up in the industry is even if you aren’t

  • Will it make the music better for the listener! Otherwise I don’t give a f*** about an artist marketing strategies.

wtf is a waterfall release lol

Just look at the op lol

Releasing a single. On the next single release, add the first single after. On the 3rd single release, add the 2nd single and then 1st single after. Repeat for however long

Helps new fans find your new music quicker as well as giving your old singles a lil bump

  • stream bait

    waterfalls. waterfalls. waterfalls.

  • Equivalent of dropping singles then an EP with all the singles

    Cleaner this way IMO

I kinda like this cause I don't listen to singles really. But if they're on a "project" together I'm more likely to actually listen to them

But the thing is they could just release the EP initially when all the songs are done. To me this just seems like a low level stream farming technique

I mean for sure they playing the numbers/streaming game but who isn't? This method at least makes their discography cleaner. Instead of like 15 singles there will be 2 EPs

Sure but why would you ever play the Tesla EP when you can just play the Secret Recipe EP for example. The old EP is now obsolete. The new one has all the songs and one. Now it’s wasting space

Valid, he should delete them as they drop. If I was a fan of him I'd just add the most recent and delete the old as i go to keep it clean on my phone. Same way I delete singles when the album drops

Fr I need my s*** clean lol

Random but I added a few songs to an album from 2021 to my 2020’s playlist and I have to move the songs all the way up the playlist so it’s chronological 😭 this is how ocd I get with it. I think my s***s already 700 songs

nah what you described is the exact same thing man lol Barry is doing the same thing as Yachty, it makes no difference and i doubt there's any rhyme or reason to whether it's labeled "EP" or not

but there's the problem. the artist doesn't intend for these singles to live on one project/an EP, but that's essentially what's being made to happen now with this tactic. it just becomes confusing because how does a regular consumer differentiate between an actual conceptualized project, and what's just some s*** being compiled together on streaming because they're recent releases within a certain timeframe.

i wonder if the artists themselves even care about s*** like this. i'd be like yooo you f***in with my discography lol

    They're not an actual project
It's moreso just aimed at getting extra passive plays

I played Where I Go by NxWorries at least 5 extra times passively because they appended it to the Daydreaming single
