    Yes 808s came after tpain

Tpain even said 808s is a remake of his album

But you a Ye stan so you dont know that…

Yeezus was literally the underground sound at the time too

This comparison is ever dumber than yeezus being a death grips album

The only thing they have in common is auto tune . Simple as that

To be honest. I feeel like nothing he did is original. Yes it’s a mixture of things but all of his rapping albums don’t sound original. I don’t count 808’s because he is singing on that s***.

at least these type of threads are still better than the ones about pure celebrity gossip

Y’all are pretty much arguing beat selection vs vocal technique

Ye took the vocal technique from T Pain
    Subject matter from Cudi
And beats from 80’s mixed with modern bass/808 at the time

This arguably could be on 808s if you hear it in Ye’s voice but of course beats from 05 aren’t gonna sound like beats from 08 just off how fast the club /beat landscape changes between 04-05, 06-07 and then 08 going into 09 (side note which is why it sucks that music in the last ten years has pretty much stayed revolving around trap beats but that’s another thread)

Why is the thread ignoring this

Ye mixes his influences with his taste to get his albums just like everybody else

You have to learn about late 90s hip hop leading into early 00s hip hop to understand how he revolutionized rap with each of his first 4 albums leading into a masterpiece of number 5 opening a new decade and finally breaking every boundary in the genre with 6. You can’t name a single artist doing the same or close at the time these albums dropped.

Let’s be clear though OutKast is in a similar ilk. They just aren’t as easily replicated the way College Dropout and Graduation birthed whole career aesthetics that other important artists could use; on the flip side you could say Kendrick and Kanye himself only could have existed because of Outkast/Tribe type acts

But yeah one would only ask this question if they didn’t see how hip hop was before and after that Graduation to MBDTF run. He was remaking niggas whole careers and aesthetics in his image with each era change
