The artists THEMSELVES said it bruh

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/808s_%26_Heartbreak

T-Pain said that West told him he had listened to his debut album Rappa Ternt Sanga (2005) before making 808s & Heartbreak

Cool, don’t think that means Kanye’s execution of auto tune wasn’t original

Cause the words of people that were part of the creative process is stronger than us debating on if we agree to hear a sound between two songs

Ye brings in T-Pain to help make 808s and Ye stans acting like he had no influence on it. They probably don't know Cudi helped to

Only Ye stans will say the artist that was the blueprint wasnt really the blueprint

Only ignorant people assume there is a blueprint, creation is nuanced

Also t-pain's music doesn't sound at all like 808s and by the way you talking I'm assuming you've never heard it

  • Jan 6, 2022

    OP is being meticulous.

Kanye has been very original when it comes to mainstream rap. This is widely accepted even among credible music critics.

Of course, Kanye has his own influences ranging from Mase to Outkast to Hov but he's been very innovative in hip hop throughout his career, challenging common hip hop sounds and tropes and helping expand the genre's boundaries.

Ironic because I recall you saying Rod wave wasn’t influenced by Kanye even tho he said out his own mouth he was

So you one of them niggas that pick and choose

  • We won’t see an artist of this level of popularity who moves off of raw emotion, for better or worse, again imo. At least not for a while. That’s what makes him so polarizing. Both musically and just in how he moves publicly. He goes 100% into what he’s motivated or inspired by.

    Tkken

still waiting on one of yall to post a tpain song that sounds like say you will, street lights , or coldest winter

Y’all are pretty much arguing beat selection vs vocal technique

Ye took the vocal technique from T Pain
    Subject matter from Cudi
And beats from 80’s mixed with modern bass/808 at the time

This arguably could be on 808s if you hear it in Ye’s voice but of course beats from 05 aren’t gonna sound like beats from 08 just off how fast the club /beat landscape changes between 04-05, 06-07 and then 08 going into 09 (side note which is why it sucks that music in the last ten years has pretty much stayed revolving around trap beats but that’s another thread)

To be honest. I feeel like nothing he did is original. Yes it’s a mixture of things but all of his rapping albums don’t sound original. I don’t count 808’s because he is singing on that s***.
