To who? In 2009-2010 if you weren’t rocking skinnier pants you were either seen as an old head or someone just not fashion forward at that point. Hov was at the start of his old head era himself and that’s why Blueprint 3 came
out the way it did cause he was falling behind trying to grasp for coolness.

personally, it’s hard for me to listen to his music these days simply because all of the confidence and ego feels so fake now (for lack of better word)

i hear “champagne wishes, thirty white b****es” and it just feels empty now. he’s a talented s***addict with unlimited budget and a bunch of other talented people around him. it worked well enough until the cracks started to form, and by that time he was too mentally gone

i’d say objectively it’s a f***ing great album, but personally it’s hard to listen to now

the hook was quoting lifestyle of the rich and famous and was mocking the fake bravado and shallowness of the lifestyle. he wasn’t saying he has 30 white b****es

I'll give you that Hov was pretty much in a lane of his own at that point, but the only rap guys truly rocking skinny pants that weren't jerkers were Cudi, Ye and Wayne to some extent.(He didn't really get into skinny pants until C4 era) Cudi was the closest to that image your describing cause he looked less like a rapper and closer to an indie rocker of that era.

0 doubt about that, I'm just talking to dudes that act like guys like Wale wasn't on Cudis ass for his style, or how dudes like Drake were rocking baggy pants up until the views era, when skinnies became a suave thing.

The sound was pure hip-hop for the most part, but this high-brow artsy aesthetic from the artwork paintings to the performance art and choreography from George Condo and Vanessa Beecroft was def inspired by and presented from a Eurocentric lens. Kanye’s proximity to whiteness post-808s has always been part of his appeal to a certain demographic that always separated him from other traditional hip-hop acts.
