Pretentious is when you do something corny in the name of trying to make art. Whatever music Kendrick makes it's because that's how he's feeling not because he's trying to make art
One thing I will add, those stereotypical suburban fans can be black as well. Its weird but true
Facts, I grew up with a lot of them. That’s why I didn’t throw race on it. Niggas are guilty of it too most def
They just mad he won a Pulitzer for writing
If writing nonsense like you are speaking in tongues gets you a Pulitzer then keep that
They just mad he won a Pulitzer for writing
KTT might be the only place that treats this award like it means nothing lol
no you dont got s*** JaeRell
its not an assumption
this is a business thing my guy, he and his team know the worth of Kendrick's music and yet somehow they (including Kendrick) dont seem to be doing it very often because of that worth or some undisclosed reason that even the most die hard of fans cant figure out
that's pretentiousness right there
if dude wasnt pretentious he would be dropping for the love of the craft
"if dude wasnt pretentious he would be dropping for the love of the craft"
you just forcing a narrative. It's not pretentious to take your time with music lol.
Part of the reason they don’t make that type of music is because of their pretentiousness and thinking they’re above people that do lol
Part of the reason why their fanbase goes so hard is because they also fall in that ideology as well
Drake Hov Ross say they’re better rappers and none of those guys have fans that feel morally superior for listening to their music rather than others
Frank, Bino, Ye, Tyler all do
"Drake Hov Ross say they’re better rappers and none of those guys have fans that feel morally superior for listening to their music rather than others"
You aint gotta lie to kick it my nigga
What are some of these disagreeable things that Kendrick has said?
blacker the berry 3rd verse.
"nEgUs" (which isn't the origin of nigga like some would make you believe.)
he pushes a lot of respectability politics. Like when he said that stupid s*** about Mike Brown.
"i'm an Israelite dont call me black no more"
His uncle spitting that BS on the outro of Fear, I definitely fast forward through that s***.
There are some antiquated thinking that he does have that would err on the side of conservative.
The biggest criticism/knock on Kendrick is the initial setup of him (and this was moreso by his fans but the whole 2pac interview thing didn't help) as like a 2pac-like figure in hip hop. And he just isn't that, but that's ok.
The funny thing is (in typical KTT fashion) the actual things you can critique Kendrick on...NOBODY does that. They just make up weird s***. There's nothing pretentious about a Pulitzer prize. There's nothing pretentious about taking your time to release music and only this ADD generation would even think that because back in the 90s, most rappers that weren't Jay Z would between 2-3 years for albums. Also @gay4frank he still does features so he still cares about rapping lol.)
KTT might be the only place that treats this award like it means nothing lol
On god they probably dont even know what Im talking about lol
Like a rappers chance to get a Pultitz for Writing gotta be like 0.0000001%
So lemme get this straight.
If an artist drops an album or a mixtape every few months, it's "fast food" music that comes and goes.
But if an artist takes their time to drop their music, it's being pretentious.
that's what you're saying?
Black panther soundtrack dropped in 2018 my mans.
Yall gotta remember Covid stopped a potential drop last year.
What are some of these disagreeable things that Kendrick has said?
in Blacker The Berry the third verse is essentially about black on black crime, a concept that most people on the racial justice front adamantly disagree with, so to me it's kind of short sighted for someone as smart as Kendrick. I also really hate his last line that (and I promise im still a fan) just sounds like something I'd hear on Fox News:
"So why did I weep when Trayvon Martin was in the street? When gang bangin make me kill a nigga blacker than me? Hypocrite."

Hypocrite
About a dead homie and "slaps"
I still remember the thread where some dude said Kendrick was better than Lupe, I almost blacked out
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WccFQFltjA0He is. I'm gonna end the stan fight by saying I like both
