guy is a professional musician, one of the greatest rappers ever sure but evidently he rarely records/releases music, and he rarely performs music

drake and kanye have dropped 10x the content since kendrick debuted and that's why everyone under 20 know them as the 2 biggest rappers of this generation, known for their work ethic AND their talent and creativity, they're fully active in the music world even if it means 1-2 years of going quiet

either kendrick is the most pretentious of them all or his business is so extremely strict that even if he LOVES music, he can't be actively releasing or performing it

painting everyone? buddy i only said Kendrick was pretentious and explained why, none of what you said was a proper argument

however, sometimes multiple people share similar traits and CAN be painted with a similar brush if needed, Lauryn, Erika and Janelle are all A1 talent but i would also call them pretentious, they've always come off as a combo of eccentric and "better than the other options" without even trying and they were never ones to get absorbed by the hollywood crowd around them

their music being original and authentic also has drops of pretentiousness because of the artist's unwillingness to conform, which is evidently seen as pretentious by many people

being pretentious isnt always a bad thing and theres almost always a reason for why someone is acting or coming off as such

hes too pretentious to contribute because he knows his value within the culture and within the US, but a person who isnt pretentious wouldnt rly care about that value and just make and perform music out of the love for it
