Mac Wit Da CheesePeople need to realize these remakes are adaptions being updated for modern times. Adding more diversity is just adapting it to modern times because we live in a more diverse America
Just like how the new Pinocchio took out any smoking or mention of tobacco

Big agree. Random race swaps for no reason kinda irk my brain. Like it just feels like an alternate version rather than straight from the source material. I don’t mind it much and side characters who don’t matter that much
It also feels like sloppy seconds to turn a popular white character into a black version out of the blue. I hate feeling like corporate execs are trying to pander to me. How bout Give us new and original characters instead of black version of white character
That said it doesn’t ruin my enjoyment of anything. Just minor pet peeve

hot pancakesi mean let’s be real, if they made static shock white people would be outraged as well, i think @Jihyo is right with his first part saying any race feels a type of way when a character of their race gets replaced by another one
edit: for the record, i don’t care about little mermaid, but i do also acknowledge that it’s not only white people that get mad about this
i do understand the outrage when it’s a cultural character obviously, but when i it’s a random super hero (static shock - historically black) or a random disney character (little mermaid - historically white), people within that given race will feel a type of way. it’s not just a white thing
