Complaining about capitalism.. just say you’re poor, we get it.
wish i could tat this
I have a question for the thread:
Do you guys think there’s ‘objectivity’ to genre standards? Like a ‘good’ hiphop song or a ‘good’ country song etc?
Yeah that's wrong because it's not objective, I prefer Harvard Dropout more but you can have a different opinion
So you don’t think you can objective in comparing those at all?
Props to you for sticking w it if that’s your belief but personally I disagree
Yes
I’m saying that the context of this discussion is the idea that people who engage w a lot of music have a more valuable opinion than people who engage only w music they hear on the radio
The type of people who only listen to music on the radio do not know what pitchfork is
So in the context of the population themselves included pitchfork isn’t mainstream
If you read Pitchfork you’re MAYBE in at most the 5% of people who care most about music
i would’ve agreed with you if we’re in 2005, but fam we in 2021. radio is just about obsolete, streaming and the internet have took over everything in the music industry. and what is one of the first sites that usually comes up when trying to get more information about an artist? pitchfork.

i think its relative to fans..im a casual listener of country..my fav band is lady antebellum...every non casual fan i speak to think my favorite tracks are the worst songs ever lol...

if we go by what the initial purpose of the genres were supposed to be than yes.

yes look at drakes discog for the perfect rap artist. you want hits? done. you want street s***? done. you want some rnb hybrid? done you want some dusty boom bap? done. whats not to love?
And for the record, it's really stupid when people act like you cant prefer something and admit something is better. I like take care more than ready to die. Im not going to pretend ready to die isnt better
Think of the music that survived and got past down to us as good music. Doubt there are that many underground punk bands that got cult followings probably mostly by weirdos in 4chan.

we gon be riding jet skis while you bums continue arguing online

My point is a lot of people are stupid and do view popularity as making someone more valuable
Is that a crazy observation? I’m not saying I personally feel like that
Hmmm yeeeeah you're right

im starting to f*** with prince heavy as s*** now too.
the saddest part about being a prince fan is prolly realizing prince coulda challenged Mj on a whole other level of he played the game that MJ did.
