Why would you believe a book of story compilations that didn’t exist in its current form until hundreds and hundreds of years after the death of the followers of the apostles and not even the apostles them selves

That’s the point, what you’re talking about is snippets of the gospels and not the book in its complete form which is what I’m referring to

I’m referring to the gospels of the New Testament, we have the original manuscripts, it’s not a compilation and was written shorty after Jesus lived. The Quran contradicts it but was written 600 years later, why is that a more trust worthy source

Lmfao i was literally raised muslim and have been to mosques my entire life with imams spouting the most disgusting s*** you'll ever hear

I was there last week when I was with my parents and they were going on a crazy homophobic rant

I feel you. I was raised Catholic, and went to church nearly every Sunday for 18 years. I don't understand how people can be so sure about their religion, when like you said, there's so many religions out there.

You should try not spreading misinformation and bigoted narratives because you’re disillusioned with your home countries fake Muslim government

Exactly like beliefs aside, i could never see how you can be confident that you were picked to be in correct religion

I don't think religion is even a bad thing it definitely helps certain people find peace within their lives but being so definite about it never made sense to me

I need to give a historical context in summary with a scholarly literature to explain to you that a bunch of short stories that were mostly taught orally have been altered in context and sequence and form of complications?

This is before even getting into the issue of translation from language to language especially when we’re talking about Aramaic which has no direct translations to many of the major languages in which the Bible was disseminated. We’re talking about the Bible modern form, and it’s very clearly obvious that a document compiled in its complete form, 700+ years after the death of the last primary sources of those stories, is problematic.

Look at ancient manuscripts of Assyrian Orthodox Church versus Ethiopian versus Eastern Catholic versus Greek. Through translation after translation there’s been significant differences between different orthodox versions.

The entire original point of my post is a draw contrast between the main primary source to holy book pathways of Islam versus Christianity, where Islam is clearly a more sound system of faith when basing it on the validity of its holy book. There are clear forms of evidence showing the dictation of the Quran from the prophet directly to multiple annotators and scribes — this does not exist in Christianity.

dude that is not what you're f***ing saying holy s***

you are saying that the actual Bible, as a historical document is not f***ing reliable, oral traditions are naturally not reliable, THAT IS WHY THEY WERE WRITTEN DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE DUDE

and as i expected, you ran off with the translation angle, you really are a scummy dude yo translations are naturally liable to produce some errors and introduce additional text and co that was not originally founded in the Bible in order to instill a proper understanding in different cultures and languages, this is a literal f***ing given and is desperately pedantic

also you're overextending empiricism to something like historical verification, history does not work in "evidence" and "proofs" like science in the sense that you have to "prove" the veracity of a text or a document, history works and hinges upon on the given information and based on several other accounts, what is most likely to have had happened with all of the information that we currently have at hand?

this is why the existence of Jesus is rarely if ever questioned, because there's a manifold of sources that speak of him (Pliny the Elder, Suecetus) the burden of proof is on YOU rejecting the actual accuracy and reliability of the gospels and you haven't provided s*** other than the surface and base level critique of things being lost in translation over a period of f***ing time when we don't even exactly know when the Bible began to even be compiled

Neither of them are real if you want the real answer and it should be obvious to anyone

Believe in it if you want but the fact that there have been hundreds of religion throughout time should say enough

the fact that most of these religions are based on the same exact things at their core should tell you enough, but of course, that doesn't fit your agenda nor narrative so it's ok bro

The Bible is a random assortment of stories pretty much untraceable in origin. (Bible meaning the present day order and presentation in form of Christianity’s scriptures).

It’s been altered, change, and in unison has never been codified and kept the same from beginning to end

Copies from the Quran from the 8th century have been DNA tested and the book has been confirmed by experts to have been exactly the same since it’s inception to the present

Just on that surface level, islam has a higher merit

what I don't understand is why couldn't I just write a 10 pg manifesto on google drive and be like 'the angels came down and told this to me'

like why would that be any less meritorious than the Quran for example

not even tryna be offensive, I've always felt that there are important lessons we can learn from the abrahamic religions and that they add value to a lot of peoples lives, but I don't see why/how people take the writings literally
