Drake killed hip hop
artists used to put a lot more effort and experiment more on music
than Drake just comes in making the most generic music imaginable and kills. Taught rappers to never try again.
Fam what is generic about Drake, he came in the game making music completely different than everybody else at the time. I'm not a Drake stan on his nuts but you're clearly being a hater
They were playing this at a party once when I pissed myself
Wait what
But I’m arguing with the drake stans post not that post and you were defending the drake stans post
If you acknowledge 50/Em did it then what’s the point of saying it was Drake stans?
I’m literally arguing with one specific thing that you said, and you’re like nah i made other post outside of this conversation that contradict the point i been arguing, you’re misunderstanding me!
all im saying is you said “Drake stans” with no further context or explanation, you just implied it started with them so I picked that specific post and disagreed
Oh.
Then I apologize for not adding clarification.
In recent years, they put more fuel to the fire. I did reference in this thread that all the big sales threads that deal with numbers always come back to drake.
I remember niggas being rejective when I was posting about Michigan rap and now that they blowing up ktt love it lmao
you really carry the torch for that fr you put everyone on
@Reformed said So Far Gone was trash, should've known that's a troll lol.
Wait what
That song was playing at a party one time when I was hanging with my boy Stifler and he put it on. I pissed myself in front of some chicks.
It was embarrassing.
Of course sales have always been talked about, but they didnt take over until recently. Now, sales is the only talking point. You can't say "this album is a classic" now a days without bringing up numbers. KTT is the perfect example of this evolution. Early 2010s Pitchfork and reviews were the bible on KTT. Nobody talked about sales when MBDTF, WTT, Yeezus dropped(i'm not saying literally, I'm talking in general. 15% sales talk at most). Now a days? Nobody ever mentions reviews anymore. And if you talk about the music's quality, somebody will be quick to bring up sales and numbers to dispute you. Its 85% about sales now. Even amongst my friends IRL sales is brought up much more now. Social media highlights sales and its easier than ever to follow numbers with each streaming service having charts and charts social media pages etc.. Its created a monster where sales are the end all be all.
Well, hip hop declined since 2015 mainstream wise so that's probably part of the reason why.

Most of these young rappers are Future, Keef, and Thugger's kids though....

It’s a lot of factors but I hate the non black fans that latch onto the numbers convo bc they can’t relate to the cultural aspect of rap
I feel this but also i’ve never known a white to do this irl.
maybe I just don’t hang around those types.
Nobody gives a f*** about music quality nowaday
I miss when rap was all about the beep bop hippidty skippity flippity
Do you not know who 50 cent is OP?
50 cent was a thug that happened to sell loads because the product was exceptional
Most of these young rappers are Future, Keef, and Thugger's kids though....
heavy autotune rap takes less skill
