The music spoke for itself brother, he could dropped those first 3 albums on any label and they’d still be goated regardless

Thats just not true because he dropped most of that music on his own at that time, played labels Jesus Walks and All Falls Down and nothing happened until the Roc co signed him

He would have been Little Brother with better punchlines and melodies lol

    Both.

Jay was already a superstar who would still have had access to any super rap producer he wanted tho he would’ve lost out some of his best work without Ye

Producing for Hov put Ye on period, bigger impact

    This thread reminds me

Drake really needs his own version of Kanye if he wants to still be relevant in Hip Hip imo

i was just thinking we about the time where its now the Tyler/Cole/Kendrick/Drake role to put on the next guys under 25-30

roc gave him the image and acceptable "cool factor"

A lot of people SEVERALLY underestimating Jay/Roc and it's sad. I get it was 20+ years ago but it was still a factor.

And those R&B dudes are not gonna cut it. No offense I love Party and Majid but they've had their time. The former arguably has influenced R&B for the last 10 years.

4Batz was not it, he needs someone that he can tap in with. Not a Beanie Sigel type but someone that can bring him into a realm.

He gonna also need to leave his rap ego aside and realize the big picture. Jay was able to do it when he saw Ye, though he had to accept it.

I’m always fascinated by this topic honestly, cause Ye always kinda bows down, reality is he carried rocafella in his own way as much as Hov & Dame did in the beginning

You think Capital Records would’ve handled YE properly?

Doesn’t Ye’s impact on Hov start with some of the biggest songs on Blueprint?

Lmaoo bro i get why old niggas hate our generation

Hov would be Hov if Ye didnt exist just off of 96-04. If anything following behind Ye post Graduation/808s/MBDTF (which is mostly the era yall referring to) left Hov in a weird place musically aside from WTT. Nobody looks at songs like Hate or Already Home as the greatest Hov songs ever lol. Also Peep the gap between MCHG and 4:44, he would have been better off going more the Roc Marciano type beat or Harry Fraud direction (basically fw everything that was happening in the NY underground in early 2010’s) in the early 2010’s and the projects from that timeframe would actually probably be MORE musically relevant to actual purists since not like Hov is a hit records type of guy anyway. Lmaoo maybe even AraabMuzik. Hov using Ye as the cheat code for cool in the early 2010’s actually kinda put him in a weird place musically lol

Idgaf about oldies. I said what I said. Its all butterfly effect. Ye would still be Ye with or without Hov with your logic. I never denied Hov of his greatness.

kanye would of got left in 2009 if it wasn't for HOV

How would he have got on at all lmaooo he was getting turned down by every label and Roc only gave him a deal initially to do a Chronic style album where it was other Roc niggas rapping on it. The car crash, media attention from the car crash and then Thru The Wire is what broke his career

You niggas just know Murakami bears and “seven screen stage” and all that other bullshit lmaoo no context of how many other things had to happen for “Kanye West” to work. He did a lot of hard work but he didn’t just will all this to be. He owes a lot to Dame

His path as an artist you can’t really gauge what it would have been, he would always have been a relatively “hot” producer though

  • Idk, Ye being roc was a huge part of his image in early years, gave him accessibility to closely leverage his style and fashion sense against their image, & still be respected; jay giving him this platform to diversify his character really aided in his success

  • Lmao if kanye wasn’t available round y2k then jay prolly would’ve subbed him for Timberland, and eventually Pharrell, and then did watch the throne with Rick Ross

    Oblivion X

Jay's best album isn't possible without ye. But jay put ye on the map as a producer

RD aint feature no kanye production

  • Nov 24, 2024

How much impact did Hov even have on Ye?

  • Nov 24, 2024
    Troy Ave Stan

Jay wouldn’t have made it as far without Ye

Heard this for the very first time but this is probably very true since everything ye touched became #1
