Never been into super/hyper cars, tax the rich man we keep getting all these overpriced 100s of thousand dollar cars but can’t get affordable basic cars under $20k

Because every car now a days needs s*** like heated seats for some apparent reason. You could remove half the s*** on modern cars that are deemed luxury and probably have a decently priced car.

I think the reason is that the margins on cars with more luxury features is much greater than a basic car stripped down. The biggest cost is the skeleton of the car, all the luxury features are probably small in comparison.

American production is expensive so they want to recoup their costs quicker with higher margins. Annoying, I don’t necessarily think letting China import more here is the answer because their production is so cheap our manufacturers can’t compete, but there has to be some balance that can be reached where we can produce cheaper cars

american manufacturers tried making cheap small cars for years and consumers over and over again chose to pay more for a slightly larger and taller crossover equivalent model instead. it's kind of a chicken or egg situation where people stopped buying small cars so manufacturers stopped selling them or vice versa.
