I got LASIK back in 2012, and while I don't necessarily regret it, I feel like the long term effects weren't fully spelled out for me back in the day.

The eye dryness these days, honestly, is pretty nuts - drops every morning, a different type of drop in the afternoon, occasionally more in the evening, and then I have to sleep with a sort of gel on my eyes at night.

And even then, that just gets me to like, manageable levels of dryness. Ain't no going back, or undoing it, or fixing it - this is basically what I'm stuck with, according to the specialists, unless I wanna surgically insert silicone tubes into my tearducts to potentially improve the situation.

I wouldn’t do lasik off the long term dry eye alone. Had an allergy that had my eyes dry and that s*** is so annoying. Think there’s alternative to lasik in 2025, but do your googles.

Ever since I read articles about folks driven to suicide by complications from Lasik, I was like nope

They don't tell you about the long term effects, or the short term risk

    Do NOT get lasik

Yeah @op look up LALEX or SMILE, my specialist says that's the good s*** now.

It wasn’t ever bad but you are told to keep eye drops with you.

    Complications are extremely rare.

I got my LASIK done at the Dallas Eye Institute and never had a problem. I’ll compare it to a McDonald’s the way they have so many people in and out of that place.

depends on the guy and the place. i got a friend that stopped doing the eyedrops one month later, then other that still doing it 1/2 times a day after 4 months

for example, the other day i was outside the whole day and just did it two times, but last day at work did it 5 because of the AC

My friend had the SMILE surgery and he's had no complication in nearly a year. Check it out if you're eligible.

How long after did you start to have dry eye issues? I had it done a few years ago and don’t have any problems

I had dryness issues pretty early on, but it didn't actually get bad until around the 5-6 year mark I'd say.

Already had an initial appointment but the doc said LASIK would be best in my case. Other 2 there were PRK and SMILE I think. idk Lalex will look up

Plus the regular old LASIK isn't truly a permanent thing anyway - they suggest that around the 10 year mark there's a chance you'll start to experience your vision getting worse again anyway. Def ask the doc about all these sorts of things imo

Pretty sure LALEX is just another name for SMILE
