I hope we'll see a more organic mash of EDM and rap, basically taking it all the way back to the roots with house/techno + rap having a coming of age side by side. it's def been the big trend even w stuff like jersey club taking over beats etc and like lowkey DJs are bigger stars than rappers already, I think the next wave will be DJ + MC collabs where both are equally respected and rly give a live performance

also I think English rap will not be as central on a world stage anymore

    I want this too

I hate to use this as an example. Hard ass song, Rx hard as s*** but it’s a perfect example

    I get what you mean

As a beatmaker i feel it comes fron the click in style of making beats which is a whole nother potential deep dive as it relates to this convo lol

But in a weird way it also defines this era. A looot of mid to late 2010’s trap music (with its trends still lasting to now) is like this

Always wondered why Lex and Chop couldn’t do what Skrillex or A Trak did in real time when they were in their peak even without the artist element

ngl this is actually a dying trend if anything

They’re still in like 2005-2007 surprisingly

Someone doing Obey Camo Jean Jacket Swag Memes etc aesthetic and early 2010’s Tumblr cosplay right now would be an easy fast food way to blow up

Find a way to get a mixtape section on the streaming services as a free-to-use section. Let people upload tapes again, any beats, no monetization. Then use that as a way to discover/sign new talent and bleed them dry.

Basically back to the good ol days blog era

This is partially a potential answer/solution for so many things lol

A free section on all streaming platforms

    Project

super adhd distorted and club influenced sound mixed with 2010s swag and cloud rap nostalgia.
travis scott will have a jerk beat on his next s*** and the kids will call it corny. young money datpiff era type beats and old 40 sound coming back.

If things moved how they were supposed to this would have already been the dominant sound last decade because of Sophie/PC Music

Its lowkey already happened when people say something like Yeat Ken etc isnt trap music or isn't from the DNA of those type of beats (Lex Southside etc) bc it uses wackier synths lol

this is where the problems began

as soon as we let nettspend fly, there was no more telling artists what is ass without being looked at as washed or old

Lil B used to viewed as a joke with the ability to make good music. then we started moving away from the joke and treating that like the mark, now we’re here

they definitely trying it with Doechii…but will the culture let go of a Sexyy Red if they are continually boosted by the likes of a Drake and Kendrick still?

honest question. why tf is Dot on a Carti album and not rapping 16s with Larry and Cardo

Because if he doesn’t it will get taken as he “looks down” on that type of music and the game will lap him. I agree with you and honestly its a big factor in Drake’s decline from 2016 on. He replaced the stimulus with just trying to fit into that Atlanta scene and birthed the genre of NBA on TNT cut to commercial music
