I want a straight DUST resurgence. Niggas wanna wear throwbacks and timbs but don't wanna rap like it.

It already had a resurgence in the Indie scene this decade.

But it's not going to break mainstream if that's what you're saying.

I'm tired of throwback s*** when it feels forced and has no inventiveness.

  • Apr 10, 2025

That being said, we need to see some new towns and cities take precedence.

Plus we need new sounds and drum patterns. New perspectives too

    Someone is smart enough to

    • crush the TR-808 drum sounds in hiphop since 2015-2020 to a Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross timbre
    • bring vigor and strong moods back to chord vamps in rap bangers instead of these emotionless and sterile chord changes as of late

In more detail, boxy thin metal noise as the texture for dominant rap banger drums is tired as hell. The listener’s ear is tired of this. The same TR-808 sounds, the same Spinz 808, the same TM88 and Metro snare clap, the same Pierre claps, etc and none of the textures have evolved for the last decade plus. Like I said before it pervaded every region too

I hope we'll see a more organic mash of EDM and rap, basically taking it all the way back to the roots with house/techno + rap having a coming of age side by side. it's def been the big trend even w stuff like jersey club taking over beats etc and like lowkey DJs are bigger stars than rappers already, I think the next wave will be DJ + MC collabs where both are equally respected and rly give a live performance

also I think English rap will not be as central on a world stage anymore

Find a way to get a mixtape section on the streaming services as a free-to-use section. Let people upload tapes again, any beats, no monetization. Then use that as a way to discover/sign new talent and bleed them dry.

Basically back to the good ol days blog era
