Interest rates (yields) are hitting highs that haven’t been reached since 2007 (in the U.S.). What happened right after 2007? The global financial crisis. F***ing Japan hit highs that haven’t been seen since the 90’s. Germany and UK early 10’s.
When interest rates are high, the government has a hard time getting money. I didn’t really know this but you yourself all the way to a whole country can buy bonds from the U.S. (so you give govt money, they pay you the interest rate amount over time until the bond matures, then when it matures at a specific set date the govt gives you back whatever your original loan you gave them (the bond). With the higher interest rates it just means the U.S. will be giving you personally, investors, or countries more money over time.
Bonds range in size but these 30 year bonds have higher interest rates compared to shorter term ones (usually).
What the govt is doing though is these 30 year bonds are coming in hot, and they can’t afford to pay people back so they just ask for more bonds to pay other bonds back lmfao. It’s completely f***ed and with the national debt reaching 40T allot of people are starting to ask for their money back.
Maybe I’m not good at explaining things but there was a ton of videos on YouTube that all say “if you don’t understand bonds, you don’t understand money”
I'm in bed with a cologne bottle holding down my space button on my keyboard on my work laptop
Contemplating if i should go to the office since yesterday was kinda rough

Sept 16 Trump has a ultimatum meeting with the Federal Reserve. He wants them to drop interest rates (so govt doesn’t have to pay everyone so much incrementally) and he said if they don’t do it he’s going to stop trade with a bunch of nations
Sept 16 gonna be a very important date
