F***ing TASTE
Love his taste in music but don’t understand why it doesn’t show in his discography

He on big business status. He plays the demographics.

For all intents and purposes I really like CLB but I agree.
I think he doesn’t want to step outside his comfort zone. The one time he did anything near outside on the album was the Cudi song and I’m not a fan of his performance on it.
But I would be mad interested in a Drake x King Krule track strictly out of curiosity

Tbh imagine Drake rapping or singing over bluesy rock songs
Wish the ye and krule collab worked out
edit:
He'll eventually release his folky-se, piano, baroque, rocky, leftfield, acoustic project
Ft. Jennie, Taylor, Badu, Krule

He does… I can tell you dont listen to his music
12 albums and 100’s of singles and features on different types of sounds and genres
What you wanna say is why won’t drake make a folk album or rock album strictly or an album strictly one sound only.
Saying he don’t have those sounds he post in his music is a straight lie.

I hope you have the same energy for the 5th weeknd pop album in a row
Where’s the soul album?
Where’s the r&b album?
Where’s the Jazz album?
Where’s the rock infused album?
I hope to see you saying the same thing when the dawn drops or is that different 😂
He changed from a red to a leather outfit and you gonna be right in that Thead talking bout aoty….

yeah Drake is versatile but his music aint that eclectic or cutting edge. I expect Drake to genre blend with his music given his skill set
from pop to rnb to dancehall, to rap and drill doesn't really seem like he trys anything new with these genres but what has already been done.

You want him to make an old town road but don’t expect it from any other artist. Confused.
Also Wildfire ovo remix out now.
S*** fire and didn’t receive the love it deserved. Why continue to try to blend different sounds when people still gonna find reasons to dislike it?
People should be content with him dabblin in sounds and genres but instead call it cheap and uncultured. This narrative is tired.
Kendricks tpab has been done before.
Jazz hip hop done all the time.
Kanye’s jesus walks has been done before.
Gospel/hip hop done all the time.
They didn’t create anything new, they just did it their own way. The only difference is they’re not Drake. If anybody else made controlla, blem, HOWGH, Hotline Bling, everybody would love it. But because he’s this mixed lightskin from canada with a huge fanbase people say it’s wack or not experimental enough.

no I agree with you for the most part, I hold everyone to that standard especially when you get the hype and acclaim that Drake does. and you're right I love TPAB but kendrick aint do nothing new there. also I dont care about his image and I give Drake the props and recognition he deserves, aint no-one has been as consistent at making hits like him, man is a genius when it comes to melodies and song making, however I can see why there is such a distinct difference of perspective from fans and here is the word ktt hates "critics". Yes Drake is versatile but I think from a critical perspective you notice that he treads the same water with his content whether it's dancehall, pop, drill, Nola bounce or rnb
like theres really no artistic reason to jump from genres when the subject matter is exactly the same.
for example when Ye was heartbroken he felt the best way to artistically express himself was through singing (similar to 80's pop songs on heartbreak)
when he was frustrated he chose to rap over industrial beats with a tinge of rock (Yeezus showed his anger)
Kendrick even though not new went to rap over jazz beats cause that was the genre with blues that was at the inception of black culture.
I guess Drakes reason is best explained in Views cause that's what he grew up around culturally a mix or blend of genres, I just rather he take an abrasive approach and do it for one full album
and your right Weeknd and everyone else should be held to that standard. which is why Starboy and BBTM are his weakest projects cause there was no real growth or cohesion.
Peak Drake imo TC-NWTS-IYRTITL

Still not fair. I get that sometimes he has stale subject matter. But if he constantly shows how many different ways he can talk about the same thing, that in itself is artistry nd evolution.
People confuse his subject matter evolving with him sonically evolving and they aren’t the same. He has sonically evolved in every way. His flows, his tones, his cadences, his melodies, his production. I don’t personally care that he continues to talk about the same s***, even though i know he has a range of topics whether people choose to acknowledge that. I listen to music for the sound AND feeling. And he provokes those feelings every single time, even if I heard him or anybody else say it before. That’s music. They all talk about the same s*** lmao
We occasionally get the same monotone rap introspective drizzy. That’s not how he’s normally been releasing music since Views as people claim. It’s just false.

I agree with you there,
I think his evolution can be seen a lot in his rapping skills and singing, listening to SFG and TML def shows that he's improved a lot overtime.
also I try not to down anyone love for an artist cause thats not only subjective but what an artist does for someone can't really be measured by numbers or a***ytical think pieces.

And that’s a reasonable view to have. People will really be out here tryna force their opinions down others’ throats using false information.
S*** is hectic out here in the music industry.
Some of the art in the Toosie Slide video are def. a form of co-sign
Diddy
There are more too

I’ve already said that Take My Breath sounds like an After Hours leftover even though I like the song
