pre C4 Wayne had a great rap voice.

I really love his voice on C4 strangely , it’s after that it was kinda weird sometimes

Tbh saba and mick also have this issue. Saba is soothing and all but his voice doesn’t rly stick with you. Because they use their voices in boring ways, and I like both artists

Smino on the other hand has an amazing voice, Kenny mason too.

Gambino, JPEG, and Logic all have this nerdy undertone to their voices that just doesn’t sound good for rap on average imho.

JPEG is the most tolerable out of the 3 for me

as a diehard Lupe stan, I still almost agreed with @Shamshiri s***post but then he said drake had a great rap voice lmao.

Look, I haven’t admired Drake since the abomination that was Views, but you can’t deny his voice captivates and engages the listener. His delivery is another story, but voice is one of the last things you can criticism him for.

The first ever Drake song I heard, I was actually put off by his rap voice. Didnt like how high his voice was back then

    I disagree with Mick here

Dudes delivery been amazing the last couple of years. The highlight of The Patience (his last album) was how emotional and intense his delivery is.

Oh this is a good point too lol. Nerdy is universally a p bad trait to have in your voice. Not the same as nasally or high pitch

Weird voices are winning rn tbh

I feel like mic presence & how good a rapper’s voice is was like one of the most important skills you had to have back then

    still is

his voice made him easy for youtubers to create entire careers around parodying Ghoma this gimmick you have is old.

I think a good example for a legend that doesn’t have a good voice is like, a lot of backpack rappers
Cole has a great naturally chill voice so it works for him
But say Murs, the clouddead rappers, cannibal ox
These ppl have either voices that r just too locked into a gimmick or r just way too plain to have presence

vordul sounds like hov on most of cold vein if you adjust your ears a bit and vast can literally say absolute whatever and itll sound like the tuffest s*** imaginable

Smino sounds like a cartoon character, much worse than Kendrick or Lupe

GKMC created the foundation of alien voice, and that seriously turned me off as a fan. I still have plenty of respect for him, but I can see why some people wouldn’t rock with him.

He only do the alien voice occasionally that s*** hard too

Ngl I haven’t heard cannibal ox in a while but u get my point tho I was just thinking of random 00s backpackers cuz that was kind of a consistent issue

You didn’t see it with like, slug though. Or El P. Or woods. Those guys r all instantly recognizable.

S*** I’d say open mike eagle has a similar issue prolly

was thinking that i dont hate any voices in particular but your post reminded me that i hate OME and Slugs voices. just cant listen to them

knew many people irl that was turned off to him because of his voice.

In fact, the big 3 kinda broke the system by none of them not really having "perfect" rap voices.

When I say perfect rap voice I mean: DMX, Scarface, Outkast, UGK, Method Man, Mos Def, Biggie, Pac, Jay Z, and 50.

It's just some cats when you hear them rap you can tell they had a voice that was just made for rap

I agree completely but tbh now its all about melody, if u cant sing over some crazy ass hyperpop sounding s*** ur cooked
