tyler had loiter squad and although that’s a goofy ass sketch comedy, it does prepare one to deal with being in front of camera for hours on end for a couple weeks

if ur not mentally prepared to portray a range of emotions on camera over and over and over it’s not gonna go well

think the club scene in uncut gems worked for him bc he was playing himself in a setting he knows well.

when you’re being asked to portray a dramatized version of yourself in front of 15-30 ppl watching and a bunch of lights cameras moving parts, it’s incredibly difficult

all that said he obviously is letting his ego and blank checks get in the way of making great visual art

i haven’t seen enough of the idol but i feel like ppl judged him off his worst moments and the misogyny surrounding the shows director and abel’s music

tyler worked well in marty supreme but tbh he was not really in character
