CowSo some random people who want it will put in 5 years of research and development, employ many thousands of people, produce, and then market a device just for the love of the art? Who is getting paid the money needed for this and why are they doing it? Who is fully funding it?

They do exist, but we are talking about a huge amount of effort. It involves 100s or 1000s of people dedicating day and night to something for half a decade. Are you saying they will not want to be rewarded for that hard work and effort?
