Donda chant must have really gotten you pumped. Revolutionary track filled with substance drake’s lacking. It’s also the most intriguing intro ever known to mankind

Kanye stans are the most pretentious idiotic people on the planet

That s*** weirded me out, but we dont know for sure whats the meaning tbh. People say its Donda's heartbeat fading which is kinda sad if true and a really interesting opening. We dont always have to compare these two

I thought he was going to go for more of a concept album in contrast to the somewhat uninspired Scorpion (like I get thats his sign but come on). The whole CLB era was very thematic, from the merch to the little heart on his head but then the album ended up being a bunch of catchy chunes which I ain't mad about but he didn't really tap into the Loverboy theme. To me this album is very much Take Care 2, which is fine and I'm sure lot of fans were happy about that but I was always a fan of IYRTITL-Views-More Life Era with the dancehall and UK inspired chunes.

I'd say no. It was popular beforee 2016. He helped introduce it to people who may have not been alive in the 2000s where beanie man, sean paul and even nina sky had big dancehall tracks in the us but so did bieber and so did sia.

I’m talking about last decade bro. 2010-2020. All the artist you named were early 2000’s. A whole generation of music before Drake. He influenced Dancehall in the mainstream 10-15 years later. In his generation. The newer acts in his time followed right after. There were no “pop” dancelhall records in mainstream music for at least 10 years prior until the work, one dance, controlla season happened. I’m way old enough to remember the Sean Paul, Kevin Lyttle, Beenie Man days. Drake didn’t reinvent the wheel he just brought it back again and yes he did popularize it in recent times

Sorry, a dancehall pop song created by justin bieber in 2015 was one of the biggest songs in 2016 lol
Sia released cheap thrills feat sean paul in feb of 2016, another dancehall influenced pop song that was also huge one of the biggest songs of 2016.

You can give drake credit for revitalizing it in rap but others were doing before him even in 2016

Literally every person I've spoken to in real life couldn't care less about CLB. I forced my gf to listen to the whole thing yesterday. I'm trying to like it. It's hard.

He said that on TC and NWTS he took like 1 month to finish a verse, that he worked on the hook until it’s perfect etc. I don’t notice it right now. His music is more “lazy” for me. And some of them are really good, but not on Take Care, NWTS, IYRTITL and Views levels. This album (CLB) is different of any other Drake project, it is outside his parttern.

Work came out before the Sia song but yeah you’re right about Sorry. I guess in my eyes I never looked at that as a real dancehall song. The sound is 100% influenced by Jamaican vibes but it always seemed more pop edm mixed because of Skrillex as opposed to one dance and controlla which to me are authentic sounding dancehall records (as authentic as you can get not being Jamaican). Still believe Drake popularized more than Beibs cause like you said hop hop artist did it after Drake.

He used to be able to do the slowest of
slow jams that were near goddamn transcendent. It's not boring cause he isn't screaming.

Ahh yeah she's never liked drake much so it nbd. I just wish the slow jams were as textured as they used to be these ones don't hold my attention.

  • A bit too formulaic I hate that I know what I’m gonna get with a drake album these days and it wouldn’t be a problem if did what he does concisely

The subject matter not evolving bit is a corny take. He raps about money, girls, cars, being the best, and his opps like all rappers do…..

Wtf yall want him to rap about changing Adonis diapers or waking up in the middle of the night to feed him?

So it’s ok for him to do it because all rappers do it?!? He’s not just any rapper. He’s the biggest rapper. Drake is not on the same level as Durk or baby. His stans have the lowest expectations of him.
