Everyone covered a lot of the bases. Bar heavy songs not hitting the same, boring, use of features isn't elevating, sleepy beats, etc.
I disagree heavily that More Life had no direction.I also thought Scorpion had a lot of really good songs and if he cut out 5 of them and put them as a pre- scorpion EP it would've been better received. "that's how you feel" is a real standout for me but doubt it made into a bunch of playlists. He has others on there as well.
The wasting time verse embodies a "CLB" and is better than 90% of the verses on this album.
I can't rock with the criticism of him putting a leak on the album. Unless he leaked it himself for research/promo, that's not his fault. So i look at TSU and Fair trade differently in that sense.
As someone who was around for RFI, CS, and was there when they post postponed SFG, was there when the 3 pack of Forever, I can Take Your Girl, and Stunt Hard dropped, etc.
I’m not really “disappointed.” To me it’s a drake album and I got exactly what I was expecting from it. Drake can be a bit formulaic to a fault when album time comes around, and I can understand why some would be frustrated by that.
If there is one thing that’s a downer, is that FOR ME he consistently can’t find a way to put his best records on his albums. Like, Chicago Freestyle should of been on this for example.
Stuff like that is my biggest gripe.
Fully with you on him needing to put the best songs on the album. Him and J cole both do this it's so frustrating.
Best verses and Best songs randomly released and then XYZ attempt at charting with so and so feature is the third song on the album.
Wasting time, money in the grave, chicago freestlye would all be great album tracks for myself

It’s like…what the hell is dreams money can buy and 5am doing in Care Package lol been happening since TML
You’ll see s*** like Omertà, money in the grave, 2birds1stone just randomly out there but summer games finds album placement
I mean I know why I just don’t agree with the reasoning and it’s frustrating
I did want a concise album, I really did. I still really like the album though.
To me Drake is like a chain restaurant I love, like Carabbas or something.
I love what I get, but I know what I’m gonna get. I’m predisposed to liking it.
Didn’t have many issues with the album as a whole, I got what I usually got and I loved it.
He didn’t change it up much, but I’m fine with that because I like what I got.

Facts. Care Package is full of slaps that should be attached to his primary legacy (albums). 2 birds 1 stone slaps, Omerta...and so on
Headlines not making take care
What do you think the reasoning is because I have no idea...I think it's just bad A&R'ing by the team

im sleeeeeeeep as a baby. pretend i wrote the motto (non deluxe)
whats the reasoning
He “has” to fulfill soooo many genres on his albums that he inevitably will end up leaving records off in the name of doing it all
He trades what songs are legit better for the sake of having the R&B or the pop joint on the album
I don’t agree with that. Put the best songs on the LP period.
For a song like "no friends in the industry" - forgetting about the sonics of it - whether one thinks the sonics are A+, B-, C+ or what have you...
the words fall hallow when it's clear the guy has a lot of friends in the industry and on his last mixtape said "used to be an anti social nigga now Im making friends?"
We're all humans and can change our behavior / words / reasoning at the drop of a dime. I get that, not knocking it.
The words / messaging take the soul out the album for me. Feels like Lauryn Hill's "superstar" in real time application
Wish he went away from the slow dramatic beats and went with pure hype production for one album.
CLB is classic drake tho I know what i get with him and hes consistent.
He hasn’t really evolved since VIEWS. Everything feels so...corporate and soulless now. Even though CLB has tracks I genuinely like, as an overall album it’s pretty meh and I don’t think it’s going to be appreciated like VIEWS down the line.

He is talented, but unfortunately when he’s introspective he has nothing to really say that is new. He raps a lot about Kanye in his bar heavy songs. I wish he’d rap more about other things. I think he also plays into social media viral meme tik tok stuff too much now. Seems a little gimmicky and beneath a guy who’s trying to be goat.
Also, I think now is the time drake should slow down and take real time with an album. No mixtapes or loosies. Make people miss you. 625k first week is great (might be in 500s when dust settles) but it’s def a lot lower for a drake album.

The sale thing falls flat because those numbers are actually incredible and suggest he shouldn’t slow down tbh
Getting half a million or 600K in the pandemic is like, 850K or something without it

I feel you but second day numbers 40% drop apparently. Idk fam, I think hopefully he gets a great tour going. makes a killing. Sits down. Does those great feature runs until people are starving for a drake album.
Pandemic excuse is over
It’s not an excuse
People’s habits have completely changed since the pandemic and all forms of entertainment are competing against each other
In addition, there are jobs / other places that are still not open, closing because of delta, etc.
it’s absolutely a factor

I think these numbers again though, are proof people were starving for a drake album
We are legit in a pandemic
We want joints like Vital
Also u making Adonis jokes but this was the first album without a ‘family’ track.
You can still go listen to vital at anytime no ones stopping you
So he didn’t give a family track but “all of his songs sound the same” -and “his content needs to evolve”
Don’t contradict yourself, not saying you personally either just saying in general to the criticism
Why do you delusional stans always believe that genuine criticism is hate? All the hype, the delays, the trailer, all that GOAT talk, I expected this album to be the one. Drake is capable of so much more, and that’s why we’re such harsh critics. Y’all really just eat up whatever he puts out these days.
Most of these songs had absolutely nothing to do with the whole “Lover Boy” theme. Knife Talk should’ve been on Savage Mode 2, and Mr. Right Now should’ve been on CLB. Way 2 Sexy would’ve fit more on WATTBA 2(still think it’s total trash though). Then you got super mid filler songs like Get Along Better. YOLT was cool and all, but the production sounds like some dated Just Blaze s***, and this could’ve been on some DJ Khaled or Ross album.
Oh and the mixing is god awful. Some of these songs I gotta blast the volume to hear the vocals. This isn’t just a CLB issue, it’s on his other recent ones as well. Like many other members have already said, it just seemed like another playlist to cater to all Drake fans. After hearing that Fair Trade snippet on his IG, man I thought he was really gonna come with it this time, and put out the album he really wanted, what we were all waiting for, but nope. This album is a god damn chore to listen to front to back(4 listens front to back, and a whip check, it’s been a struggle for real). From the annoying ass sample in Champagne Poetry, to yet another boring outro that is The Remorse, CLB as the final end product, was just a massive disappointment.
His music is what it is. His fans have never been critical with him and eat up everything he puts out. Kanye stans s*** on Ye and JIK, even Em stans s*** on his weakest projects. Drake stans have never heard a bad drake album.

Lol y’all aren’t saying that about Donda….
And don’t try to convince me yall actually enjoy gospel rap now
