My only criticisms/disappointments with the album is that it seems to me that Drake took a back seat to most of the features on the album in my opinion. He still killed his parts don’t get me wrong but it does It feels like that’s the first time he’s ever done that on a project or in his music in general. The featured songs feels like songs that would have been on the featured artist’s projects. Almost like Drake was the feature on his own songs. Fair trade is the only exception imo. It’s like he took a step back and was like hey I want you to shine which may have been by design since he’s the goat and has literally nothing left to prove. Almost like Wants and Needs, where Baby just spazzed and Drake intro’d the track. That’s where I can see the “uninspired” take coming from but that’s where it ends cause the songs are still high quality.

Also I wish the album dropped in April or May. Alot of these songs have summertime vibes to them. Like if Way 2 Sexy dropped at the start of summer. The clubs would have been going CRAAAAAZY. Not to say they still won’t still but the album doesn’t fit the “we’re headed into the fall” vibe. As opposed to previous projects that felt like they dropped at the perfect timing and the music fit that timeline

Lastly, I hate that this has turned into a Donda vs CLB thing. It’s taken away from both of the projects. It’s turned into a disgusting fan war between stans. The last two albums have been highjacked by Kanye beef and I think Drake makes his best music when he’s not so weighed down by negative energy.

Other than that it’s a solid album. Is it his best no, is it his worst no. The album is for sure a grower. Enjoy it for what it is not for what you thought it should have been or could have been and that goes for everything in your life. Do that and you’ll be happier not just with the music

    It was a lazy effort;

-The album art literally speaks for itself smh

-He used 3 leaks that we’ve had for over a year now

-It sounds like he was rapping sitting down instead of standing up, his voice sounds winded, monotone, and not as aggressive as he usually does (ex Knife Talk should’ve been soooo much harder than what it was. He sounds soft on this beat, he needed to sound more angry like on some Worst behavior tone s***)

-Idk if bros vocals are deteriorating over time but he used entirely TOO MUCH auto tune. Bro was sounding like he can’t sing at all

    -Too many features

    -No album sequencing at all

-No growth in sound, flows, or content

-Idk how tf he didn’t lay a verse on Yebba’s song 🤦🏽‍♂️ like seriously

-Again (since Views released) he’s still trying to please his entire fan base instead of just making an
    Album he wants

-Fillers, fillers, and more Fillers. It sounds like he just through any songs together to make this

-He’s still “beefing” with Kanye 😴 like where was all this energy with Push ? Everybody knows Drake is better than Kanye currently, it’s annoying af and honestly just a marketing tactic

-No OVO features smh (PND or Majid)

-No night time sounding music (which is why I fell in love with bros music in the first place)

One thing about the leaks, Its a tiny amount of people that have heard those so its defo not a reason to remove it from the album.

    • His flow on songs aren't as... I don't even know what's the word for it but he doesn't flow as effortlessly and continuously as he used to. Like for example the last verse on 10 Bands or first verse of Furthest Thing. Now He does this stupid thing now where he pauses in his verses multiple times and really kills the momentum and makes it awkward.
    • He doesn't have nearly as good melodies or hooks anymore.
    • Sounds bored on almost every single track nowadays. He used to rap and sing with so much passion, hunger and charisma. He sounds so lifeless now.
    • Uses autotune way too much now. I miss when he'd have beautiful singing songs with well written lyrics. Like compare songs like HOWGH, Feel No Ways, Now & Forever, Marvins Room, Shot For Me, Doing It Wrong, Days In The East, Girls Love Beyonce or My Side to songs like Peak, Finesse, After Dark, Pipe Down, In The Bible, Girls Want Girls or F***ing Fans. Now his singing is autotuned messes and the lyrics have gotten either not nearly as good or pretty corny.
    • Subject matter never changing or evolving is probably the worst offense. I don't need him to completely switch up and like never rap about the things he usually raps about but there needs to be at least SOME songs that break the mold and showcase his creativity. It would be nice but I'm not even saying he has to rap about politics or world issues or anything like that but my god rap about ANYTHING other than your stripper/ig model flings/girlfriends, love for your boys, your mom being sick, the fact that you on top and the cons that come with it, your opps, betrayal, the toll of fame, etc.
    • Beats have been dry to me for the most part. It's super weird because it's not like they are bad but they always feel like they are missing something to make them kick. Like the difference between Tuscan Leather and Champagne Poetry. His albums used to have such beautiful production and now they sound as lifeless as him.
    • His song structuring used to be way more elaborate and unique. Old Drake would have never had a 2 minute intro like Survival or stop at 1 verse on a song like Papi's Home. He never used to miss a songs potential. Like imagine if Come Thru ain't have that outro or 10 Bands stopped at those 2 short verses or if Days In the East and Marvins Room ain't have those last rap/sung verses where he spazzed. Most of his songs now feel like they missing another part to them.
    • He keeps rapping with the same old people like Future & Migos or the new style niggas like Lil Baby, Gunna and Durk and they usually don't bring out the best in him at all. It's getting hella boring I wish he'd switch up and do more songs with rappers that push him like Freddie Gibbs, JID, Tyler, Benny, etc. Wish he'd collab with more female artists too like Kehlani, Jhene, Summer, Doja, Rico Nasty, Meg, etc.
    • He doesn't care about making actual albums anymore. Every project after IYRTITL feel like playlists and gives the excuse that he needs to give all different types of songs on one project when he really doesn't. He's shown multiple times he's willing to release loosies, EPs, and mixtapes. He has multiple mediums to spread out the different types of songs on.

I respect this opinion. Don’t necessarily agree with all of it but it’s level headed

    His boring delivery for me.

This is a honest thread, no hate. To all stans pls do not get nasty in here

His flows used to be so good and "lazy Drake" used to be a breathe of fresh air with him venting about s***, now it's the standard and it's getting mad boring.

  • illmatiicz

We don’t wanna hear baby durk jay z we want drake drake drake drake!!!!

that akademiks clip kills me every time

  • Sep 5, 2021

Whenever he catches a good flow he never runs with it. Like the flow at the end of U With Me?, end of Champagne Poetry, delivery on Papi’s Home (ends up being shortest song on album), etc

Like he gives these flows just a little bit of light which makes the song more memorable , sure, but we need full songs with him doin that s***

Wtf yall want him to rap about changing Adonis diapers or waking up in the middle of the night to feed him?

  • Too Dark

Kanye being the focus of 50% of his bar heavy music nowadays

literally this. it’s why I can’t even enjoy the 7am and Industry track. He obviously made that for Kanye haters which makes up 70% of his fanbase lol

  • WESLEYS THEORY

I think the issue was we were lead to believe it would be a “grand opus” with the trailer and insider info, but we just ended up with A Drake album not THE Drake album.

I’m honestly convinced the OG CLB was gonna be that album but the Kanye stuff ruined it

  • K DOG 99

I’m not lying about liking his music. You’re a f***ing idiot. People can like music that you don’t. Donda isn’t subjectively better than CLB. YOU do not get to decide that. I like Donda but the subject matter is boring and is fake deep.

No one was even talking to you nigga if I got something to say I’ll send it directly

  • Sep 5, 2021

He’s just too focused on being able to say he has the best numbers

  • It’s funny bc y’all say he doesn’t change up his style yet he still the only big artist that can make 7am or no friends and turn around and make twist & turn, fountains, Greece, get along better etc

All the rap artists who the new generation stans truly make the same damn songs over and over again

Well written. I disagree with After Dark cause I think he brought back what you were referring to as the good singing Drake on that one personally.

I don’t think he has to really change his subject matter moreso than stop emulating other artists. Drake was just Drake from 2007-2015 and after WATTBA he decided to hop on what was poppin in ATL/South and continues to do that and he just sounds forced. It’s like he knows they’re hot so he has to keep up and he just doesn’t do it properly.

I wish he would work with people that would inspire him better tbh like I’m not a Cole fan but compare his track with Lil Baby to Drake’s and you’ll see that Cole and even Kanye utilize them better than Drake does where he just straight up emulates or doesn’t keep up period.

I was a huge stan from hearing him on Comeback Season til 2015 and it’s just been a downhill ride where I feel like I’m growing out of him mainly cause he chooses to not grow up and mature with his music anymore.

Might be time to bring in some co-writers/co-producers from other areas of music. Work with some different kind of artists

    He did.

    It’s called IYRTITL.

Then Meek and the whole world killed him for it. So he stopped doing it.

He hasn’t really evolved since VIEWS. Everything feels so...corporate and soulless now. Even though CLB has tracks I genuinely like, as an overall album it’s pretty meh and I don’t think it’s going to be appreciated like VIEWS down the line.

views was his last album with a clear direction, ever since then he’s been taking the chris brown route where you flood the album with as many tracks as u can to try to get a hit
