i can acknowledge the dope/positives of what I just described and yes a lot of it was derived from Hov but you asked why people don’t like him lmao that’s why…he broke a lot of the “rules” of rap and now Niggas wanna act like he was a tribe called quest…nah. Hov made sure to keep his aesthetic firmly rooted in hip hop

as a 25 year old thats listened to drake since i was 11 i dont get what this nigga did to yall. like this is clearly one of the greatest rappers to ever do this but just because he sings his hooks now he a popstar. literally there is no difference between drake and future yet drake is called the pop star. why cant you sing without being called a pop star

i think the real things people can criticize drake on isnt even talked about, people just dont like this nigga.

The actual answer to your question tho is that he made himself the poster child of treating the rap game as a true sport / he made it so that accolades and playing the rap “game” more important than a lot of the fundamental s*** we required from rappers up until him. Wayne’s ethos were about being the best (even if it was being the best at p**** skate s*** money bars) and Drake’s were about having the best executed career even if that meant your music got repetitive and predictable after 2016

I appreciate the peaks of his run tho and from 09-15 we never saw a run like that and probably never will again. Meek beef ruined whoever that guy was but he’s still appreciated beyond the jokes
