just started fw slay the spire for the first time last night. typed hooked now. then I see slay the spire 2 should be coming out late this year or next year
don't know why I didn't give it a chance before. I heard deck building rogue like and just thought it would another balatro
Gonna finish stray. I picked it up some point last year and set it down for some reason. Gonna beat this, control, and outer wilds for the next month. Will probably take a break from games at that point.
Tackling my backlog of games I’ve bought over the years but never finished. Just finished Yakuza 0, doing Arkham Knight currently then DMC5 next
Witcher 3 after that

Slay the spire on the phone got almost 500!” hours out of me before I finally fully beat it goated. And I still haven’t seen all of the relics or items yet I think

now this is a game i wasn't particularly hyped to play at first because of it essentially being a "soft reboot to bring the series to bring it back to its natural roots". it's a game i constantly see new RE fans being the first game they've played in the series or it being their favorite because of how spooky and scary it is. not to mention the sudden change in first person view to "enhance" the level of tension the game brings in trying to scare you.
upon finishing the game, i thought it was an alright entry in the series but nowhere near one of my favorites. frankly i just prefer resident evil games to be in third person view. its still very possible to add tension and dread in a third person perspective, the older games did this with no problem so im not really sure why people insist on first person being the best way to experience this, it just feels like a cheap way to get a jump scare off on you imo.
i also found the enemy choices in this game to be pretty boring too, aside from the boss fights you fight those molded creatures for the entirety of the game. i liked the variety of enemies you fight in the older games as it allowed you to come up with ways on what to bring to the table. the best part of this game to me was with lucas as he probably has the best puzzle ive encountered in a resident evil game, it genuinely had me stumped for a while.
i can't hate on this game too much because its success helped make the remakes (plus 8 which seems like a way better game than this but i haven't finished that yet) possible but as it stands its my least favorite in the mainline series, id put it over the revelations games but that's about it.

i usually dont play or like open worlds or rpg but this was the first game to now pique my interest in it a little bit. my only point of reference from the game was when witcher 3 came out and seeing all the praises it got around the time and even now to this day, and geralt. after actually playing this game i gotta say he was nothing like i expected him to be lmfao, i thought he'd be the average joe stoic guy just off first looks but hes actually very sarcastic and dry in a pretty funny way most of the time. he was definitely one of my favorite parts of the game as his commentary (some of which you choose) that he makes with supporting characters or just the world around him in general made me laugh a couple times.
the writing and worldbuilding is this game was very solid and quite expansive for a game made in 2007. it consistently kept my interest for the duration of my playthrough because i will be honest, the actual gameplay of this is extremely dated as hell. i think the feel of it being like a rhythm game by how you time you sword strikes as geralt made it a bit interesting but after like 30-40 hours of doing that, it gets very monotonous very quickly. that alone may hurt my chances of wanting to replay this game down the line which is a shame because again everything else in this game was pretty good for me, not to mention the amount of times you have to backtrack around chapter 2 and 3 since this game doesn't have fast traveling or a horse to make progression quicker.
this is one of the rare cases where i think a remake would actually benefit this game a lot from a gameplay aspect, but i do think this game is worth giving a try if you have even the mildest of interest in it.

this game was a great follow up to the first game and it pretty much fixed most of my issues with the first witcher lol. combat is completely revamped in here as you have more control of geralts attacks and how you move around enemies. the first game didn't even have a block button at all which sounds crazy typing that out now but this game now has blocking, parrying, and dodging which probably feels expected in most games in this style nowadays but this wasn't a thing at all in witcher 1. the spells in this game also feel a lot more useful than they did in the first game because majority of my playthrough i think i only used 1 or 2.
there's a heavy focus on potions in this game because now most of the encounters you'll face you will be quickly outnumbered by the amount of enemies that come towards you. creating the exact potion you need and using it before you engage in battle is very crucial as it might just be the one thing that will save your life majority of the times because even a regular jobber enemy can take the hell out of your health if you're not too careful.
there really wasn't a crazy amount of backtracking in this game like witcher 1 and even when you did that paths weren't nearly as long as they were in that game. the story was also pretty good and kept me entertained the whole way through. basically this was a pretty solid sequel and improved a lot of the things witcher 1 lacked at while also including some very well need quality of life changes.

I have a soft spot for 7, bc it was the one that got me into RE, but I agree with all of your points. The SAW-esque puzzle is one of my favorite parts too, and I found it disappointing that they didnt try to recreate a similar moment with either Village or any of the newer remakes. If anything the puzzles get dumber and dumber with each new release. Hopefully with Requiem sharing the same director as 7, they go experiment a bit more with puzzle design.
Playing red dead 2 for the first time on ps5, on chapter 3. Ultimate end of night game after locking into other games. Wish it was more than 60fps on ps5 lol… but it’s okay for a game as cinematic as this
been playing a lot of monster train. got it for free on gog a while ago and kinda been itching for a rogue lite or deckbuilder, super fun. i'll probably grab the sequel when it goes on sale
Gori: Cuddly Carnage and it's as swaggy and underrated as i expected it to be when i played the demo last year

Fully prestiged all classes in Space Marine 2. Got all cosmetic, and heroic weapons. Nothing really to strive for until 11.0 update and Techmarine is released.
Been on a Warhammer 40K kick…. Gonna break from SM2, and continue my Dawn of War 2 playthrough.
Shinobi AOV
only 1 trophy left getting “S” ranked on all the stages, was struggling with it but asked GPT for tips and they came in clutch…
best sidescroller since Dread
Been playing the Castlevania DS collection. Dawn of Sorrow was great and became instantly one of my favorite Metroidvania type games. Portrait of Ruin is fine. There are some changes I really like about it and others I do not like as much. Now its onto Ecclesia which is supposedly one of the best Castlevania games in general
Learning my Brawl Stars account might be worth a couple thousand bands. I’ve been playing the game unknowingly since its beta on n off over the years, I’ve amassed a lot of skins that are apparently extremely rare. I had no clue it was worth anything at all
I’ve spent maybe $150-$200 on this game from 2017 or 2018 to now. The early years I definitely remember buying coins or something like that. Then I remember buying brawl passes when they first came out

This game used to be so f***ing fire bruh. I’m probably in the same boat
