Playing the Batman games for the first time. I’m almost done with Arkham Asylum. This might be the perfect video game. Just enough collectibles. Just enough challenge. Replayability may not all be there, but the map size is perfect imo. There was that thread on RPG burn out and I think a game like this is the answer. Still give the player freedom/choice but also have it be linear in a sense. The only thing I could see added to this game would be more side quests that deepen the back stories of the other characters outside of just the tapes.

i beat the main story over a year ago (i’m good on collecting all of the riddler trophies lol) and yeah that is an excellent streamlined game

playing RE1 for the first time ever

this is f***ing dope it’s much more of a puzzle game than anything else tbh, but i don’t mind it. being able to unlock doors back in the mansion feels so satisfying after grinding it out in the aqua ring lol

  • Mostly just grinding through some older RPGs lately. Lost motivation to finish a few, but that happens. When I hit a wall with progression or farming, I usually check skycoach.gg/blog/wow/articles/gold-farming-guide for better routes. Made the grind way less painful for me. Anyone else rotate between three games and finish none? Feels like a mood.

    finally beat it with Chris

is it worth another playthrough with Jill?

Wrapped this up a little over a month ago. Considered going for the platinum but finding all the collectibles and making 4 different characters is so tedious Might just uninstall. 6.5/10

Started Spiderman 2 after playing Spiderman and I was thrown off because Miles was fully Spiderman in the intro. Felt like I was missing something, went back to play this first. 6.5/10, probably like a 8/10 off gameplay but the writing/story drags it down

Currently playing. I'm almost done, think I have about 6 main story missions left. Feeling a 8/10, might go up to 8.5 if they nail the landing

Damb. Just beat Arkham City. That was a ton of fun once I got out of the groove of Asylum. When I first started there was a wave of rpg fatigue (just generalized, haven’t played an rpg in awhile). The riddler trophies were much more involved and because of the cityscape, more difficult.

My biggest gripe would be the length of the story and story structure. I know cat lady was added later, but it would have been cool to play as her more. We’re only sitting at what 12-14 hours, why not go 14-16 and add a few more of her levels.

Overall this was a great time. I don’t think I can really compare this one to asylum either due to them being structurally different, but this one was definitely more darker.

Really weird but cool game, got one ending out of a F*** ton so I think im gonna replay it a couple more times 🤔 great story and characters and very challenging puzzle platforming, bit hard to get into and it made me feel extremely stupid on a lot of occasions but once it clicks it gets really addicting , amazing music too

Pokemon Champions. This game is lit rn

Finally getting back to being able to settle down and play video games. I been on “serious mode” in my life for so long now I haven’t been doing one of my top loves of all time… gaming. Sheesh. Feeling like my old self again

    Currently jumping between these games:
    Stellar Blade
    Football Manager 26
    Digimon World 2003
    Suikoden 1

Would like to finish at least one of these (or in FMs case make any kind of progress at all) before GTA 6 but I'm too damn inconsistent

    Backburner looking like this:
    Baldur's Gate 3
    Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist
    Metal Gear Solid 2
    Splinter Cell Double Agent
    Yakuza 0
    GTA Vice City Stories
    Final Fantasy X-2
    Stardew Valley
    Spyro Year of the Dragon

Will be on my death bed before I get through this list

  • One more achievement for Hades 2 and then I got em all. Prolly done with the game for a long while after that. I think I prefer the story arc of the first but the gameplay loop of 2 and the journey of playing it from the early access days right up until launch was pretty sick. Love that they had macOS support so early.

  • Currently playing. Addictive af, great feeling gameplay. But the difficulty is intense and it can be frustrating to go on a run with good resources and you lose all of that when you die

Currently playing my PS4 disc whenever I get frustrated with Returnal because I want to get Eternal off the Plus catalogue but I feel like I have to finish this first

Going to start this in a week or two. My Plus membership ends in Nov and I might not renew it so I'm trying to finish as many games on the catalogue as I can. Cyberpunk next after I wrap up some of these

  • Matthewmatosis latest video put me on, playing the genesis version though. Will later play the snes and arcade versions.

This game is legit crack, its arcade roots are all encompassing, many of its design decisions are a product of it, and as such its really addicting. Its hard as s***, it feels unfair a lot of times, oppressing and insurmountable at every step you take, but just like the souls games, once you really learn the level design, your movement options and the enemies behaviors, you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and that moment right there is when the game clicks and you cant get enough. Immaculate pacing, there's a new enemy, a new idea every 10 seconds, the game is at least forgiving enough in giving you infinite continues (there's game over, but that only resets your score, which only really matters if you want to master the game, not necessary to fully appreciate it imo). There Is the caveat that upon closing the game you'll always have to start from the very beginning, but the Quick pacing and all the lessons learned during gameplay doesnt make this a big issue. Replaying the game over and over again is what will give you those quick reflexes and deep understanding of the levels to become a god at this game; as such, i don't recommend using save states.

While the random spawns for chests, weapon and enemies can be thrilling in the situations they create, they unfortunately can also spell your inevitable doom if you're unlucky enough. That i find to be the main flaw of the game, one im not sure how it could've been fixed. Maybe some very tricky areas could've had fewer or no spawn points, but i fear that might have caused other issues. For one, what would you classify as a potentially impossible part? The randomness of the possible events happening in the game means the experience wont be the same for everyone, so the unluckiest permutation cant always be addressed. So in this case, i believe that its biggest strength can be allowed to have that single flaw, it doesnt ruin the game, and the induced frustration isnt necessarily a bad thing.

So play it if you havent and love both arcade and souls games. Its not a soulslike obviously, but that feeling of relief and euphoria after overcoming a very difficult part is identical. That was a big part of why i loved dark souls, so feeling the same way with this game was nostalgic.

  • Beat Batman Origin this morning and it was just okay. I had a friend compare it to ODST for its relation to the series and while I mostly agree, I think ODST was a much stronger addition to Halo than Orgins was to Batman Arkham.

It’s an even darker Batman game and you can kind of tell rocksteady had no hand in its creation. That isn’t to take away fro WB Montreal - they did great, just lacked a certain polish imo.

This one felt less comic booky which I felt Asylum and City captured really well. Obviously they didn’t have to stick to that feeling but I enjoyed that pulpyness from the first two.

I enjoyed the combat. So far the combat has felt improved from game to game. Obviously takes a couple hours to get used to going from game to game so rapidly but it felt like a natural evolution.

I unfortunately felt the bosses were just okay. I saw that Orgins had the best bosses and felt the only standouts were firefly, acrobatic lady scarecrow, and both bane fights.

Unfortunately I’d probably rank this 3rd of the ones I’ve played so far, but would still recommend it for anyone wanting the full Batman Arkham experience.

  • Devil May Cry 5. Pretty fun gameplay all the way so far, but damn is the skill ceiling on the moon

Fun fact: they laced actual crack in the gameplay combat
