Seriously hope you’re not conflating racial hatred with bewilderment over rapidly changing gender politics

If the "bewilderment" is active discrimination and violence then why should it be dismissed.

I don’t see it as transphobic though. Just miseducated. Don’t be so angry.

Being miseducated doesn't absolve a transphobic statement from being transphobic

I don't think anybody in this thread was equating the transgender struggle to the black struggle. People were getting at that the outcome of being silent in the face of discrimination that doesn't affect you can have extreme negative outcomes, as evidenced by the mass white silence throughout history in regards to slavery, Jim Crow, etc.

The comparison shouldn’t be made though, (even though their may be some comparisons) that’s where s*** turns ugly.

And mfs saying “the hood is transphobic/homophobic” like it’s just black people. It’s also uneducated.

Let’s not do the “anything other than 100% acceptance is what leads to trans women being harmed” this time around, kk? Ty lil buddy 👍

Why should it not be made though? We have examples in history of marginalized groups being mass discriminated against (albeit at an INSANELY different level of severity) and nobody doing anything about it. Why can we not learn from this mistake and hope people do not do the same in regards to trans people?

So you don't have empathy about a group people being oppressed for their existence. Noted. In no way does this dilute the fight against racism, unless you don't think two issues can be addressed at the same time, or you don't see black trans people as black people.

    It divided the focus.

Historically who has been more oppressed and minimized in the United States? For hundreds of years.

Again, this is not the same fight and only serves to weaken our numbers.

    Black transsexuals are BLACK FIRST.

I think a big issue is that a lot of people that are online forget is that in the public(media wide) trans discourse is still NEW NEW(2014/2015).

You acknowledge still on that transphobic wave at 40 but we gotta remember he was prolly 35 when Caitlyn came out trans.

And yea it’s really complicated, there’s more to it than just respecting pronouns and not deadnaming, you have to unlearn a lot of s*** that is deeply rooted in your mind.

Perhaps, but when it's a human's right to live being questioned then it really isn't up to debate. Take the time to unlearn whatever it is that has to be unlearned, like I said, it's some confusing s*** for sure. But what isn't confusing is allowing someone to live their life as comfortably as they can. That's just a basic human right that should be a given even if not fully understood. It's easy to accept one's gender than it is to judge it.

This may be hard for you to believe now but 100 years ago when it was pretty unthinkable for whites and blacks to date it would've also been viewed as bewilderment over rapidly changing racial politics in the same way that (hopefully) 100 years from now people will rightfully look back on current times and say damn i can't believe how much hatred people had for transgender people. Racism back then was certainly more vicious than transphobia now, but that doesn't excuse transphobia. This isn't a competition. Justifying hatred based on the environment you grew up in is stupid in both cases

Nobody is saying the transgender struggle is even comparable to the black struggle. People are saying we have demonstrable examples of the outcomes of being silent in the face of discrimination and it should never happen again for the sake of humanity.

It’s not about numeric age it’s about being able to give your consent without being manipulated by an adult. Pedophilia and bestiality are illegal because we consider kids and animals not able to give their consent for sex. There will always be a period in life where you’re not considered mature enough to consent for s***

Of course, but 13-15 year olds are out there willingly having sex. An adult having s***with them is still pedophilia, even if the minor looks like an adult. Pedophilia doesn’t just apply to little ass kids which your response only covers bases towards them. What about teens?

This isn't a "black" problem though. You're conflating poorer less educated urban areas with black people. Obviously black people tend to occupy these areas more than other races because of racist historical practices by the country but black people aren't genetically predisposed to being less accepting of trans or homosexual people. Less educated people in high crime areas that create a culture of toxic masculinity tend to be less accepting of them. Yet another reason why we need to do a better job of funding education and proving more opportunities in underdeveloped areas!

I’m trying to figure out how he was promoting negativity towards trans. From the tweet it just looks like he doesn’t agree with the lifestyle. He didn’t say anything violent or hateful he just said it was crazy to him
