If being number 1 defines the "song of the summer" there would be tons
As It Was and First Class would have a better case then Break My Soul
So now the charts dont matter
I’m not talking dumb, you know exactly what I mean by KTT core even though it’s not a universal term
Some people go outside
So now the charts dont matter
I already said it itt, but being #1 for one week doesn't define the song of the summer, simple as that.
I mentioned songs that have been on the top of the charts for the whole summer as better examples of #1s for this case
si tú me lo piiiiides yo me porto bonitoooo
I don’t see how it’s a bad thing that different subcultures and sounds are being equally represented. Why is it being spun as “divisive”? Is monoculture really needed to enjoy culture for some. The need to gather around one big shiny thing seems like an idol worship mindset tbh

This isn’t me being anti-Break My Soul, but everyone knows staying power on the charts has way more worth and value than just chart position alone.
A song going #1 is a phenomenal accomplishment and one every artist should be extremely proud of, but what’s really impressive and separates the quick hits from the biggest songs of the year is how long a song can stay in that #1 spot (or just in the Top 10 in general).
Just one of the signs that there’s hardly any culture these days.
Bad Bunny has the album of the summer, but I don’t think there’s one song that sticks out from rest to make it song of the summer (SOTS).
Drake’s album is great, but it didn’t quite sell as well. Jimmy Cooks is in the ballpark but for his standards I don’t think it’s song of the summer.
Calvin Harris album was released too late in the summer and it hasn’t been as well received as Vol. 1.
Beyonce album has critical acclaim but she doesn’t have a song everyone rocks with. Break My Soul was intended to be SOTS but never reached outside of her audience much.
The internet has made the culture so divisive that it’s hard for everyone to gather together and like one song collectively. Not having a SOTS is more of an indictment on where music is today.
“ Break My Soul was intended to be SOTS but never reached outside of her audience much.” - it’s a GLobal hit wyd
break my soul is literally number one, go the f*** outside hating ass nigga

terrible post
and i loved that album too

ppl don’t have anything interesting going on so they have to force these artificial events like “song of the summer” and “big 3” discussions to latch onto something memorable

Song of the Summer has been a thing for decades, y’all are just exposing yourselves if you think it hasn’t been

It has but it comes naturally no one is sitting around hypothesizing which temporary billboard hit it is

All OP was wondering was what the Song of the Summer for 2022 will be considering that summer is over in a few weeks
