And this post right here shows why you dont really be knowing wtf you talking about.

This post right here shows you don’t know how to read sarcasm and that’s disappointing because that was an easier one lol.

Lmaoo for this thread to mean I’m a “boom bap” guy would indicate that trap and boom bap are the only two beat styles

It’s hilarious because I’m sure I listen to more of the “ignorant” type trapped out artists than most niggas in here popping s*** but they think Earl on a BNYX beat is the pinnacle of “get with the times and off the dust old man” Lmaoo this site funny af

Except earl and them were freestyling over mainstream trap like s*** on mixtapes.

Niggas look at an artist through only their albums because lot of these cacs (niggas can be cacs too) refuse to humanize a nigga outside of his raps to remember tyler was bumping waka flocka all the time lmao

What does freestyles from a decade ago on popular beats have to do with him slowly building up to him making a more abstract version of what Lucki does and seeking out generic beats for himself and not just freestyles

Lmao this s*** is inverting to where niggas who know how this s*** used to be just say whatever to sound “cool”

Soooo basically the life of pablo?

? the life of Pablo sounds like Boosie or what are you saying here?

i think Kanye tried to pander to the younger gen for sure with s*** like Panda/Desiigner on there but that album fits relatively fine in Kanye’s discog tbh

that album actually sounds like a mish mash of all of his eras/styles in just one album

Fam Earl and Tyler f***ing renegaded f***ing Lemonade, Ima need some of yall to admit yall didnt start listening to hip hop until 2014

Yeah and it was special because they didn’t usually make music like this

Lol you’re playing dumb. Or not

ya, that s*** was actually good though, plus it was early in their career when they were trying to find a base for their sound anyways lmao

op is just pointing out it’s a little strange to radically give up your soundbed in exchange for a mainstream friendly one that’s in the vein of what everyone else is doing

He more than knows this but for some reason people view it as a pass to be “hip” to not call this out

Again our age range is turning into the niggas with their hats backwards tryna learn all the newest slang

I promise you the reason you have in your head is probably far off from sick!’s (Earl album) trapped out style beats were just simply more innovative and interesting but please come with your controversial thinkpiece that “you can’t say” lol

No need for name calling brother

Especially when he’s done more than one song in this vein. Again I don’t even think this (…or the drakeo song…or the niontay song…or danity kane….lol “one song”) is terrible but why does me acknowledging he’s slowly tryna get on more “fit in” beats probably to do a whole project like that get you upset to the point of calling me an idiot

He dont usually make music like the snippet, once again why are you b****ing then?

…because all the dudes in OP made pretty singular unique music and they appear to be giving it up for relatively tame generic takes on trap because people older than 25 are scared of being called old now

Thought that was an interesting convo and DID NOT expect this to be a thread that ended in name calling and s***. Lmaoo cmon brother

i mean you pretty much said it already that hipster cacs have this weird thing where anytime a rapper they deem as abstract or intelligent does something that’s even remotely mainstream sounding they lose their s*** and immediately trash it lol

idk i guess Earl is a bad example but that nigga Gunn is the spitting image of what op is referring to anyways tbh

those trap songs on his latest album felt like satire

More like Donda 2 I thought about adding how he did kinda turn into that but that’s another thread and it speaks to what I’m saying even more when iconic generational acts fall victim to the same dynamic. Lmao why is Kanye banging GD or Drake turn into a Goodfella

Drake turning into a Goodfella has a lot more to do with than courting a mainstream audience and using him as an example of being weird or eccentric isn’t the best cuz Drake been mainstream since like 09

And has the Kanye / GD s*** been referenced outside of the leaked track? I forgot

Gunn the only one I can see the criticism for I get it.

I don’t agree with Lucki cuz his early sound kinda aped the beast coast / early Chance The rapper s*** anyways

Again it would be hilarious if we had to post our pics when y’all throw around terms like “hipster cac”

I’m not white or a hipster I just think it’s crazy Niggas get praised for dropping their style to do their version of trap cosplay lol

I don’t know if anybody’s overly praising it though.

It’s just people pointing out that Earl has always been in and out of this more mainstream sounding songs and that Lucki early style wasn’t that captivating to some.

The only one I can agree with you on 100% is WSG and I think he might have just got bored of catering to a certain fanbase, or it might be a one off experiment and he goes back to his regular s***

  • Plus it’s not Lucki stuck with that early style anyway, he was starting to head this way when he was doing the freewave s***s
