because this thread always finds a way to pull out s*** i long forgotten:

on the subject of chiptunes:

so it was my first time living by myself, and now that i could do whatever i wanted when i wanted without having to be considerate of anyone else, i...went to a lot of shows.

and at the smaller shows i went to, i would always see this one girl. what caught my attention is that i was usually going to different type of shows so i was like "dam, she really got taste"

anyway, one time we both showed up for a show really early and were next to each other in line. if i were to bet, i would say she probably recognized me too, but that's not to toot my own horn or anything, but rather, there was that tension or phenomenon that when you're next to someone, and you both recognize each other, but you don't say s***, so it just feels awkward af LMAO.

hold on, lemme just cut out the details we talk at this show, and it's f***ing magical, and we lose each other in the crowd, so the show ends and im driving home, and out on the road i see the girl just walking on her own, so i pull up and ask if she wants a ride, and she's like yeah. so she directs me to where she lives, and when we pull up to where she lives it's......where i live too LMAOOO.

so we have a friendship, and it's nice. she invites me over a number of times and it was always great. it was nice in that she was completely separate from every other social circle i had, but we had so much in common that we never had to talk about the other needless parts of our lives.

anyway, so she's like ''hey lets start a chiptune band, i got someone who can play drums" and im like "uhhh, i dont really know how to play instruments"

"you have that keyboard tho"

"yeah but i only know how to play like..two radiohead songs and thats it"

"well it's not like i know how to really play anything. come on, we'll just learn"

and i just was so...scared i guess. not like fear, but more like....i knew there would be an anxiety that i would rather just avoid. why try to put myself out there??

anyway, the year ends, and we both move

and then we don't really talk

and months pass and i go to a show

and i see this dude start setting up s*** for like a chiptune setup

and im like cool the opener is gonna do some chiptune s***

and then i see the girl walk on stage

and it's the same girl

they start playing.......and it's f***ing beautiful

the crowd loves it! even if i didn't know her, i would love the music. she f***ing did it. when they ended their set, the crowd was f***ing hyped.

she smiled at me while playing during the set, and so afterwards, we meet up. and i'm of course gushing how awesome she was. and she's like oh yeah, here's the drummer, he's my bf

so moral of the story, yet again:

• put yourself f***ing out there
• don't give up
• hang on to those people who make you feel so at home in their company

He really ruined himself and the appeal of a show I once loved
