I'm not even lying, over the past few days it shifted me, I still don't dig a couple of tracks but the production is actually really beautiful.
I turned on Mexican Fender and I was like TF the bridge is so amazing.
Beach Boys used to irritate me, now I'm loving it (the bridge throws me off a little bit but the rest of the song is soo good)
Feels Like Summer is a BOP with White-tier lyrics.
Happy Hour is one of my least favorites but I still love the production of it.
Weekend Woman still beautiful (have pretty much always liked the song for what it is).
QB Blitz still has one of the best bridges of Weezer's career imo, that's what makes the track stick out the most.
Sweet Mary my favorite on here, I just love Weezer like that and it was another one I loved since the beginning.
Get Right and La Mancha Screwjob are pretty good, they are nice and catchy, really classic Weezer melodies.
The one track that grew on me the most was Any Friend of Diane's. That one left a huge sour taste in my mouth after it first came out, but I went back to it and I actually LOVE it. It's so different from what they usually do, but I honestly think it has turned into one of my favorite cuts from that White era (I still kinda consider it White since they were made in the same time frame with the same themes).

π You understand now

I can't believe I slept on it, and I thought Black was better than it...no way lmao. It honestly felt like the vibe Black was going for but done naturally, Black felt way more forceful in the lyric department.

If they kept PD production with classic Weezer harmonies and melodies (mainly White album vocals), I think that would be amazing.

This is facts π
Black album has California snow PD has an album full of Bops and Sweet Mary is legendary.
If this thread wasn't constantly praising it I probably wouldn't have relistened too lol

I really wasn't expecting Any Friend to be what it was when the album first dropped, so it sorta threw me off, but when I read the story behind it and really just let myself form my own opinion on it I totally loved it, possibly my favourite closer of theirs in the last 20 years
I am ready to
But this PD praise got me wide awake now
@Ithaka they know

California Snow is a bop for sure, but man you can tell they really put so much effort in the production of PD. Honestly, that should've been the album that they toured with PATD with imo.

Mexican fender is a goat opener.
I still get it stuck in my head all the time
Also like the demo version with High Hopes as the chorus

That's crazy! Well deserved though, there is a reason why it is their only Grammy nominated album next to White.
When that solo comes on
I still get it stuck in my head all the time

off topic but baby from homie Volume 1 is my favourite song. They need to release that song.

a studio version would be bonkers
Rivers confirmed in a chat a while ago that the only file he has of it is the low quality live bootleg that everyone's heard before, so I guess they never recorded it

Haven't you seen the day?
Let your flowers bloom in the sun
Baby baby...
You don't have to be afraid
Ain't nobody gonna hurt you anymore

That would be insane. Glad Sheila is making it to Van Weezer and Wanda made it to alone. The homie needs a release someday so people can know itβs greatness
