And Doja can rap, but she became famous as mostly a pop artist. If she became famous for her rapping skills and techniques, then things would be different.

Duck still hadn't hit his stride imo. the music was more than solid but he was outside the industry in a way. Apparently Durk was trying to blackball him. I think there's some credence to this idea because Youngboy says the same thing about Durk nowadays.

I kinda feel the same about MO3, a rapper from Dallas who got killed. Both good artists though. I feel like MO3 would have been big if he got to live, literally just didnt get enough time to take those steps. Literally was on Hotboxin w/ Mike Tyson and died not long after.

Because Doja and Nas X don't make their music primarily focusing on Hip-hop or Rap. They carrying some of the influences, but they mostly make Pop music.

Drake is still the leader of Hip Hop whether dudes like it or not. He’s the closest thing to Jay this generation has where he’s just as much of a mogul as he is a rapper. Doja and Nas X are entertainers,no one has ever lead rap as a purely an entertainer.

Ik most people on here don’t like him, but Yeat is the only new rapper out leading a new wave.

I agree with @op to an extent but yall widely (and understandably, we wasn’t really cognizant) underestimate how many niggas we lost in the 90s.
