OP read How To Eat To Live once and wanna start preaching.
why are you so against change?
Everything in moderations, while alternatively coming up with healthier ways of preparing those dishes.
i don't feel like this is unreasonable at all
i don't get the pushback
Food is a part of our culture. Youre bugging.
This is why Italians get mad when you add stuff to their recipes when youre not Italian
Same with other cultural groups.
This is a clown take OP. We can make soul food healthier or just eat it sparingly. Getting rid of it??
Ok, lets get rid of jollof too cuz it needs half a cup of canola oil. Along with most African dishes which are soaked in oil or heavy in starch

I'm against headassery. Literally ANYTHING can be considered "soul food". Vegans/vegetarians got their own kinda soul food. Pescatarians, Italians, Germans, Caribbean people all kinds who cook a variety of different kinds of food have something they call "soul food".
The fact that you are trying to come specifically for Black American's soul food in a manner in which that it is "holding us back" is corny as hell. Knock it off or keep that same energy for everyone else.

i feel like you've been aggressive towards me for no reason
we're not enemies
where have i "come specifically for black american's soul food"
i am a black american simply asking the question: are we ever going to stop eating soul food
i was unaware that other cultures also have soul food
does theirs also come with the same slave background?

You do realize that food doesn't have to come from a "slave background" to be considered soul food right? It can literally be anything that brings comfort or nourishes the body and soul.
Black people probably would've found a way to make soul food even if they weren't enslaved.

yeah sure
but i'm talking specifically
about this
"Historically a food that began during the tragic years of slavery in the South, when slaves would get cuts of meat and vegetables that were considered inedible by their white “masters,” the great migration following the Civil War introduced soul food to the entire country. But many former slaves remained in the South, and today, a food once considered rudimentary at its best is now found in almost every kind of place, from gas stations to diners and upper-crust eateries. Here are some favorites around the Volunteer State owned by African-Americans who put their heart and soul into every bite.."

they are not the same thing
nah, it's part of our culture and heritage.
should it be that way forever?
should it be that way forever?
it's not something i think we should just get rid of. soul food every once in a while is fine, obviously not s*** you should be eating every day.
why did you type this
because you made this stupid thread....like a dumbass
