    sol bakery maybe next month after the hype dies down since they are only open on weekends which means gauarwnteed long lines

    bruhhh i hate bakeries w such limited hours bc what else r u doing w ur time? money laundering?

    theres a bakery in ny open like tues-thurs til 2pm

    and its not like u can just lease out a whole bakery to someone els
    it just sits closed

    papa d'amour (dominique ansels asian bakery lmfao) was doing a daifuku spring special w foraged wild strawbs lolo
    it was really good
    they did a persimmon daifuku w jp imported persimmons prev but i tried twice n cldnt get so v happy w the haul

    tried the roscioli outpost in ny

    was all rly yummy, i think best amatriciana ive ever had--the guanciale was so sweet and perfect
    we tried the parm sampler as well n it was v fun

    bresaola w housemade pickled green strawbs
    i think the hospitality here is incred, one of the owners basically relocated from the og to help oversee everything and mans was hand cutting the cheeses lol
    lots of passion demonstrated, but also hefty price tag ngl


    crab tteok set from nudibranch--this was super yum. comes w everything minus the kimchi, which we ordered sep. the tteok is cooked in the crab head fat
    the chai tres leches was also really good-not super sweet, but really warm from the spices


    breakfast by salts cure
    havent been back in a while, still rly good. this location in prospect heights does not have their hashbrown :/


    lastly there is a utopia bagels opening in 4-5 weeks right by my work which is v exciting as its my fave bagel spot

    made a quick salsa (roasted tomato/jalep/garlic/onion in oven then blended), a quick guac, beans to go on top of the tacos (saw this at tacos los caramelos in cdmx n wanted to try it out), n corn tortillas
    served w cebollitas / young onions i found at the farmers market i broiled until super jammy inside

    everything was really subpar.. korean bakeries high key mid most of the time smh

    also salt bread has to be one of the most overrated pastry trendsfrom the past few years. this will be my last time trying this s***. glorified dinner roll type beat.

    mentaiko + plain salt bread, choco croissant, lemon cake (giant, grainy madeleine w icing), almond financier

    wish i just went to gu eum bakery which is actually worth the money + calories and is like 5 min away from here

    making a flan off my ocd uruguayan coworkers recipe
    made a baby flan first w the extras and it was delectable

    used these pretty blue eggs from the farmers market



    rly good texture

    ughhh also i friggin hate mentaiko pastries its so f***ing gross to eat straight unadulterayed spicy cod roe on a piece of bread just rawdog

    yea i’ve tried it ljke 3-4 diff spots now and it’s always been underwhelming

    glad i never camped out for one of these
