dept of culture -- north central nigerian food mainly centered arnd the state of kwara
goat pepper soup ft rodo pepper. super umami and savory, had a nice kick very yum. slightly salty for me porsonally
housemade wara cheese w obe sauce. v good the cheese hits like rly rly rly good paneer and the sauce is nicely bright. not usually a big red pepper sauce kinda gal but this was very fruity and bright
white yam (in chunks) and yellow yam porridge/asaro over smoked shrimp/crayfish sauce topped with smoked whitefish. personally didnt care for the fish on top tbh (exactly like tinned smoked mackerel) but everything else was so good. sort of funky, reminded me slightly of vietnamese mam tom, but had nice nice tomato/red bell pepper chunks that provided a ton of sweetness and brightness
the plaintain hit so good w the ice cream
rly good but mostly white ppl there which is cool but there were multiple ppl like genuinely watering at the eye over the spice level of the goat pepper soup which i wld describe as like "8 hot cheetos in" level of spice ๐ญ so that took me for a loop

the pineapple filling was rly rlly good just wish the ratio of crust to filling was better (needed more filling)
and the crust wasnt my fave texture (idk what it is it just didnt hit right). taiwan has better pineapple cakes for sure, sunny hills or dawn cakes take ur pick

929 in lic. vibe was ok, music i enjoyed bc old mando and canto pop, but the drinks hit. the wintermelon one is super super good, "the most familiar stranger" is rly interesting... cld b rly offputting to some but i thought it was a strong bop. had soy sauce/soy milk/maple foam, basil infused gin, sesame oil, etc etc. wacky and a weird mix of savory scents with sweet flavors but rly fun in that regard--san bei ji inspired. we got a couple other drinks and i will say the chinese cough syrup one rly tastes like chinese cough syrup so i felt kinda ๐ญ abt it... certainly incredibly unique tho. overall super creative menu with a lot of interesting stuff

dutch jumbo AAA grade white asparagus (masterclass.com/articles/chef-thomas-kellers-sous-vide-white-asparagus-recipe i threw in the asparagus trimmings into the sous vide then discarded them after bc allegedly cooking it w the trimmings makes it taste more asparagusy but doubt theres a huge impact lol also i snapped these but have since decided cutting asparagus is way less wastedul),
