    someone brought in homemade knafeh encased in baklava

    curry goat patties (curry goat inside was v good but there was too little for that amt of puff pastry the ratio was off) + egusi dumplings stuffed w crab (good but also such a small portion lol and as a potsticker it cld b juicier and crispier)

    short rib pastrami suya-- the spices were hitting and it was p good. came w cocobread that was yum and braised cabbage. tbh its on par w bark barbecues beef rib

    oxtails--fire

    cosmic brownie and mini powdered donut ice cream-- did not like
    didnt rly grow up eating either of these and it tasted exactly like the things they represented so i clda just bought that s*** and eaten it

    tony & tina's pizzeria (aka tony & tina's burek and yogurt)

    first time having albanian
    beef burek, spinach cheese burek, liquid yogurt, thick yogurt
    rly reminded me of northern chinese food

    the northern chinese version:

    i dont think anywhere in nyc has it, havent found any good northern chinese/chinese islamic restaurants yet but old mandarin islamic restaurant in sf has it + other deep cut northern chinese dishes

    none of the other recipes i saw had any of those so i felt it was a probably unnecessary

    went 2 hajjis for chopped cheese -- theyre supposedly the ogs
    honestlyyyyy i know a lotta ppl say its just any bodega chopped cheese but i genuinely fl this is the best chopped cheese ive had....... its not like im going to every bodega taste testing these s***s but the bread was really really good (perfect crunch), the sauce on it rly hit, etc
    good sandwich !

    also went 2 patti ann's
    one of the newer restaurants from the olmsted guy
    i thought it was cool--its a midwestern theme
    what i realize is that im not a big fan of white midwestern food. like im curious about the casseroles and such, but when i eat it i dont rly like it. so i dont think this spot is for me but the food was nice

    giant mozzarella stick--this hit
    wish we got more sauce tho. I will say that bernies up in greenpoint has better mozz sticks


    blooming onion -- this was cool
    i was intersted in it bc there was this huge blooming onion trend in restaurants a while back eater.com/23014985/fried-whole-blooming-onion-restaurant-trend
    i always wanted to try the tom yum blooming onion mentioned in that article (recipe video is on munchies so might make it) but this was j a regular degular onion did not hit anything crazy

    also got the chicago tavern style thin crust pizza
    i think im just not really a thin crust pizza kinda gal like this type of pizza is as diametrically opposed to a neapolitan pie as one cld get (my fave is neapolitan)
    this was cool tho

    j kenji lopez alt has been on a months long crusade to promote it and just dropped his recipe for it
    overall fun but i would not recommend this spot at all for ppl who dont want fancy adult fish fingers for dinner

    BBQ rubbed some salt-cured pork, rendered the fat, throw in spinach, added a tin of baked beans. Spread over buttered baguette. Really good. Not even British.

    Bf doesnt like brothy japanese food so he ate just the broiled salmon w rice w a side of gim

    friends went furniture + vintage shopping/browsing in green point and i had a choco chip cookie at ovenly which was pretty good. usually prefer a cookie w more brown sugar/darker dough but this was still good.

    then had bacon egg and cheese at frankels which was also good. i think i prefer the bodega style over the bougie style tho.
