Not only the content he was spittin but the energy shifted on this project imo
Energy doesn’t really play into the “street facade” just a aggressive rap song, he talking about giving girls the wi fi code lol
6 God ehhh maybe. It’s just a bunch of subs at diddy but perspective wise it didn’t seem that out of character really.
If you dig into Drake's background between being poorer in a middle class school, neighborhood, white mom black dad, having to adjust socially etc.. it lines up with the general black xp of otherization. Drake & J. Cole moms both white and poor without a dad only diff is geography. There is a vid of a like 6-9 yr old Drake singing / rapping classics with his Dad in Memphis. 1st tape was a southern smoke tape. opened for Ice Cube & Mos Def in 06 was writing for Dre in 05/06. We just want to sperate based on idk. he was late teens early 20's.
Yea I’m sorry bro that’s all fine and I’m taking away from Drakes or any other biracial persons experience but I don’t believe that Drake comes from a background that warrants him to perpetuate hoodness or whatever.
Kendrick on the other hands comes from a place that’s historically plagued with gang violence and poverty. I’d argue the worst hoods in Toronto doesn’t match the exp of south central and Drake doesn’t even come from those environments.
What street facade bro was an actor in a wheelchair
People think he has a street facade bc he got Hitman money… that’s just power. Money can buy anything including nuclear bombs don’t make nobody hard.

The fact the hood dictates the black experience is crazy. Rich successful non impoverished black folk experience the same level of otherization and low expectations all black folk experience a suit or money ain't changing that. I get what you're saying but the idea that poverty or hood experiences make you black. Is the literal propaganda I just thought hip hop had grown past this by now considering all the rap artists we've had this decade that do not fit the typical mold of blackness or rapper asthetic. In my view of real life and hip hop s*** a lot of people have fam or friends or xp related to the "streets" you wouldn't think did. The world is a big place, bigger than any one city or hood black experience.
I really don’t understand the whole “street facade” take at all
I posted this the other day but I’ll post this here again bc it’s relevant:
#1 most of the people who say this never seen the hood a day in they life
#2 He never lied about where he was from or his background or none of that. He never lied about being in the streets. And as someone who grew up in a household with a nigga who sold crack and also got in shootouts on the regular I will tell you this: hood niggas do not have a monopoly on masculinity. Half of the s*** yall think is hood s*** is actually just MAN s***. You don’t have to be from the hood to not take s*** from anyone and stand on business. You don’t have to be from the hood to be confident and competitive. You don’t have to be from the hood to be confrontational. You don’t have to be from the hood to own a gun and protect yourself and you certainly don’t have to be from the hood to have a crew that will crash out for you. That’s not hood s***, that’s man s***
Y’all think just bc he’s not “from the hood” he should be a soft spoken beta or something and it really just shows where y’all principles as men are at truth be told
Y’all holla at me when this nigga fake claim a set or say he sold d**** or is from somewhere he not
Worst Behavior video was shot in Memphis like he was in the streets or sumn
He was holding folks kids in the video like he was Pop Smoke
I see wat u tryna get at but nah foh, Drake def tried to gain that street image
This question shouldn’t have even been asked
Degrassi out now? Like what are y’all tryna pose he did not come from the streets 😂 he’s trying to play in them now though. Word to Ross.

It was shot in Memphis where his dad’s side of his family lives
he raps about having shooters like any other rapper with money lol
He didn’t have shooters beforehand, mfs posing this question as if he been with the s***.
His beef is plant-based.
That’s completely okay but don’t get it twisted w people who do this s*** to get out of the street facade because they were really there

he didn't have money before
thats my point
I could make a larger argument hip hop pushed Drake into this considering his first few years of Drake the type.. Drake sings..Drake soft...but it's larger deeper convo.

I feel you lol but this thread just pointless we’re supposed to be talking about street facades
Didn’t mean to come at you family

Mob Ties Out Now
Nonstop Out Now
Yes Indeed Out Now
Never Recover Out Now
Going Bad Out Now
Literally yes it was necessary. Are you stupid? Are you dumb?
killer drake is f***ing gas idc what y’all say man
I think he would be less big, because a big part of what made him special was how many lanes he could fit into and how many layers he could put in his music all at once.
That being said, it still may have been the better choice to leave the street s*** to real street people, but that ship has sailed by this point
shot him in daylight!

i don’t necessarily believe that just because drake grew up in the suburbs with a little bit of street s*** on the side supposedly that he could not immerse himself in a crime adjacent lifestyle after he got big. if he’s crazy, dumb and insecure enough that he wants to get involved with that s*** that badly, he can surround and involve himself with whatever the hell he wants because he has that kind of money on some frank white s*** (as in a white guy hires a bunch of niggas so he can be a d*** lord lmfao)
like if drake wanted to involve himself in the criminal underworld i don’t actually think it’d be that hard considering the kind of money we’re discussing. it’s much likelier that he’s cosplaying but i don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he’s that crazy is all
His fans are the same way. The non black ones anyway. They cosplaying to be a part of the culture and he is a pretty good leader for them.
you are a white kendrick lamar stan 💀💀💀
sums it up tbh
