sheesh
in the moment damn getting the pulitizer was a consolation for missing out on giving it to him for gkmc and tpab, but in retrospect it might be his most subtle and tragic album, theres really a lot of nuance, substance, and vivid imagery in the storytelling there thats worthy of the prize
I think it's conceptually his most complex album.
Unlike with gkmc and tpab it's a lot more open ended in terms of it's content because it doesn't have all the skits/poem to help the listeners understand it
i think we established very recently that your definition of a classic is looser than kim k
Ehh
No, pretty sure it was the opposite. Wasn't he paying rap twitter accounts for promo? Or at least giving away free tickets to his show
That never happened lmao
Morale will be 3x platinum soon with no hit record.
And no big features either.

What? 😂
An album with die hard, n95, uig, father time, mirror, rich spirit, count me out, worldwide steppers, all in one go Will always be a classic, yall so slow mayne!
I grieve different
Gotta understand when rap / hiphop blew up like mid 2010s it was damn that got kendrick a whole mainstream fanbase. dude reached a whole new level. and 5 years of people listening to that album people forgot who he was before that and they expected something similar and mainstream. Those kinds of guys diluted the reaction
It depends on the artist and what the listener expects. With Kendrick, the listener expects some groundbreaking s***. A truly once in a generation listening experience--first listen through a Kendrick album. Like Yeezus, his fan base and the general public wasn't ready for it.
With time it becomes clearer and clearer that it's a gem of an album and one of the best of the 2020's so far, for sure

Hard
yeaaah like i understand he didn’t want to go completely deep into the dark, substance filled bag and felt the need to make some songs that were poppy but they just weren’t very well done to an extent. even Count Me Out for example (which seems to be lots of people’s favorite on the album) i feel like the hook is a little cheesy and the voice he chose to rap on that song is a little strange given the lush production, i preferred the little demo leak that was just straight soul a lot more
!https://youtu.be/wp6iezAmnek?si=pmo1O8m7lTy4Gye-Rich Spirit’s pads/keys put me to sleep, it’s too somber and lacks energy (which i assume sort of fits the nature of the album) but eh, like you said it’s just not something i really want to return to. kinda wish he leaned more towards a Crown/Worldwide Steppers bag for the entire project but him wanting it to be accessible watered it down
Rich Spirit a snoozefest
Just popping in to say Mr Morale is an incredible album in a discog full of incredible albums
Gtfoh
Worldwide Steppers tho
Lemme have some of those slam poetry schizo raps
hating this album is some real bot s*** tbh i wouldn't be impressed
This album almost impossible to hate on ngl.
Its not even close to m fav kendrick album but how tf can you hate on this as a black man
Havent seen another artist speak to our community like that in a minute. So raw and honest
If you don't got a 808s, Mr Morale, Honestly Nevermind in your discog, you not challenging yourself as an artist
Seeing the overnight revisionist history with Mr Morale & The Big Steppers has been a delight to watch
most of Drizzle sxn going into hiding helped a lot
That never happened lmao
Kendrick was inviting twitter influencers backstage like they were groupies!
it took some time to grow on me
I've been listening to kendrick since the S.80 release and was continually blown away with each release, this was the first one where that wasn't the case. I still rank it quite a bit lower than most his projects even after its warmed up to me
I think a large percentage of fans felt this way
