I'm an MJ superfan but everything after Dangerous was just for his hardcores. The wider public stopped caring about his music and more about his celebrity/controversy.

  • cyclops

    His music never sucked

    Invincible is a great album

His "falloff" was all a purposefully programmed delusion on the masses through media

I don't trust anyone who says his music begun to suck because obviously you a victim of delusion poisoned through your easily controlled pea brain

Alright pal. Look at sales after Dangerous, look at charting after Dangerous, look at publicity surrounding MJ after Dangerous. Cats were more interested in his celebrity than they were his music.

Ya'll gotta stop the idol worshipping. I'm not even saying the music was bad.

Listen mate, it's not mutually exclusive. I can be an MJ superfan and still offer the slightest critique (which was just an observation of public consumption of his music) without being a hater. This type of attack from his stans at anything that deviates from the consensus just proves my point about idol worship.

i know this is a foreign concept to yall but it’s possible OP could be talking about the quality of the music and not numbers.

wait. was "They don't care about us", "Earth Song" "you are not alone" not consumed that much? I grew up in Nigeria so maybe its continent-based but those are my childhood classics. they're like all timers to me

  • Abyss

Iceman is the modern day MBDTF

To what degree? Unless Drake was sitting down chopping samples up himself, this comparison is moot.

nah those songs were definitely all timers when i was growing up. people only say he fell off during that era cus his sales were on a decline compared to thriller and bad era which is a height nobody can ever reach

just had to make sure. cuz i knew those songs before any from thriller and bad so they're lowkey higher on my list. i know its nostalgia-based but hearing someone say he fell off with those made me lose it

I mean in the Apple Music description for Blood On The Dance Floor they say MJ himself only dropped that because HIStory didn’t have the market saturation he wanted

He needed Timbaland and Missy maybe Jodeci 95-98 and he would have had another “run”

My nigga imagine Mike over Swizz Beatz in 1998 type s*** or the NORE neptunes beats he wanted

He should have followed through with that artistic impulse because that’s why Bad worked, new musical styles x the greatest showman in the game

Him spamming new jack swing and the ballad type s*** is akin to Drake spamming NBA 2k trap beats and r&b for IG thirst trappers in their 20’s or Kanye spamming trap and his post 2017 cinematic mash up style of making songs

They all lost “it” when they stopped innovating

yeah i obviously don't know enough of what happened during that era cuz those songs are classics to me. literally grew up on them. apologies to @LOSEMYMIND for overreacting.
