I know it's done super well on the charts but I don't think it's that big of a hit. It's hard to explain it.
Just doesn't feel as big as a Uptown Funk or even Old Town Road.
Probably wrong
That’s mainly because of the pandemic tbh it didn’t really have time to reach the level of those songs publicly imo
God's Plan, by far.
No it is not by far LMAO God's plan was huge, but Blinding Light not that far behind, in terms of both of the songs' first year.
I know exactly what you’re talking about. I think that the fact that we were on a lockdown for a lot of the year makes it feel a bit different than past years and the hits that came with it. But I think if we were in normal circumstances I’m sure that you would feel how large of a hit BL was
Yeah this makes a lot of sense
I don’t think The Weeknd as a character will ever be overshadowed by a singular song no matter how big of a hit it is. We knew him as The Weeknd before we even knew his name was Abel.
What the f*** are you all talking about
Blinding Lights isn’t even in the top 10 most viewed Weeknd songs on YouTube, and it’s already been out for 11 months. It’s currently under 400M views and he has at least 3 songs with 1 BILLION views
It’s not his biggest song

If you aren’t catering to the Latin market or kpop crowd, you won’t do big numbers on YouTube anymore.

Dude he's been in the top 5-10 in overall streams on Spotify for the past 8 months, with literally no sign of stopping. Spotify just put the song back on their biggest playlist with all the newest hot songs. No one gives a s*** about YouTube in 2020, unless you're BTS.
It's a pretty big song but I think people already know who The Weeknd is
Was kinda shocked about it when Can't Feel My Face became such a big crossover but now I think he's a household name
What do you guys consider a bigger hit: BL or God's Plan?
Blinding Lights will be in movies bro

My favourite part was people didn't know it was about cocaine.
That’s like saying Billie Jean is bigger than MJ. It’s wrong
bad comparison cause MJ was so much bigger and 1982 was a different time
My favourite part was people didn't know it was about cocaine.
Wild how he keeps singing about cocaine LOL
After Hours is his biggest album ever and his character is this Las Vegas coke addict
Y‘all weird for denying that Blinding Lights is a big hit. I live in Europe and I heard this song everywhere. Like damn bro we get it you don‘t like The Weeknd that much 😂
Except I didn’t deny that it was a big hit, I just think it’s overstated how big it is, but after discussing with members on this site it’s probably an effect of the pandemic we’re in.
And I don’t know who you mean about liking the Weeknd when I’ve seen the dude live twice, and was front row the second time. But whatever bro.

youtube views dont reach 1 billion as easily as in 2013-2018. people have spotify / AM now. you cant really compare someone's 2016 youtube views to his recent view count and say his popularity declined.
Wild how he keeps singing about cocaine LOL
Wild how everytime I listen to him, I end up wanting to do cocaine again.

Uhhh yeah if YouTube views are your only metric lol anything else will show you Blinding Lights is by and far his biggest song to date
No it is not by far LMAO God's plan was huge, but Blinding Light not that far behind, in terms of both of the songs' first year.
Because of the pandemic, I’d argue it is.
What? This has nothing to do with the Grammy snub at all lol he’s saying the song itself is bigger than Abel himself, which I think is a very fair assumption to make.
Every song is bigger then the artist that's why artist rarely if ever replicate they biggest hits and why it's so hard.
Purple Rain is bigger then Prince
Thriller is bigger then Michael
