Honestly I‘m not sure where he goes next, Para has no cash, Universal has the thing with release windows, Disney doesn’t seem to give directors much control after some misfires in the past years.
Sony could be next for him, they seem to look for new partnerships after the Dicaprio and Tarantino deals, they offer the directors plenty of room and actually show support for the prestige releases with Oscar campaigns etc. But they also struggle with higher budgets, so it depends what kind of films he wants to release in the future.

sounds like you're making excuses for why Feige chooses to make the safest blandest films possible. You know there was a time where filmmakers could make huge blockbusters that appealed to audiences but weren't calculated by studio execs who barely knew anything about film.

Feige is everything wrong with mainstream cinema. MCU started industrial cinema wave - films that are made quick and easy with a million producer notes for their directors to follow to guarantee a crowd pleasing experience by braindead zombies who are easy manipulated. Rise of Skywalker was soulless nostalgia bait and it was heavily influenced by the MC which worked in Disney's favor because average movie goers loved it.

Say what you want about the DCU but the entire universe started with an auteur director's vision. It was compromised with BvS but even that movie feels like a frankenstein mix of Snyder's vision and Warner Bros desperate need for a superhero universe. It's not as one sided as a Marvel film.

The whole idea that a superhero has to be "fun" and appeal to man children is the reason why lames like Bill Maher think comic books are an abomination. Looking at the MCU nobody would even know that the comic books sometimes are violent and gritty. It's never restricted to a lighthearted tone and constant need for lame quip. God forbid a cape flick resembles the real world.

Nolan isn't going anywhere, lol. Once he finishes crying, the virus has settled down, and people are comfortable and willing to attend movies again, WB will write him that check because his movies are still profitable theatrically.

The Avengers aren't real but Disney forcing theaters to give them 70% of the their revenue or they wont show their movies is absolutely real and it prevents theaters from supporting independent creators, which in turn causes studios to re think their strategy of what they choose to fund.

So yes, the MCU has literally shifted the industry away from making good films.

The content or artistic merit of the MCU shouldn’t be blamed for the effects of Disney’s shady business practices. It could be any Disney owned franchise in the place of The Avengers

everyones not getting the vaccine immediately when mass distribution begins. gonna take a couple months still until a majority have easy access and even then America has a whole bunch of doubters who will not take it unless forced for work/school/travel

and then even when we all have it you have to get adjusted to the new norm. Theaters aren't the places people will be rushing to, itll take a while to build back trust and the pattern of consistently visiting one for the majority who haven't been back in 9 months (next spring/summer would make it 14-17 months without the majority thinking about going to a theater)

this won't be an easy transition back and could take the entirety of 2021

Realistically, this is always how the s*** has been. There's always gonna be massive studios that shovel out basic crowd pleaser s*** for a ton of revenue over the "Heavily story driven, unique, and original" films. It just gets made worse when there are trends. As we saw with superhero movies. Most people are burnt out on the s*** and it won't be long until the new trendy genre takes off.
