WBs real asf for this
They're killing the theatrical exhibition experience

I personally love the option to be able to watch it at home
It's not whack imo and I understand why people choose home over theaters. But there some movies that you get a different experience in theater vs home. Like Parasite, Uncut Gems, Endgame. I know they're all recents but that's what I can think atm.
Saw Parasite and Uncut Gems at home on my big ass tv and it was way better than going to the theater to see them. If you have a great setup at home I dont see why its essential to hit the theater. I saw BR2049 in theaters the day it dropped then watched it countless times at home and tbh theres not this gigantic difference.

I own BR on 4K and still haven’t watched it since theaters
I’m scared that the initial experience would be ruined

that abandoned vegas shot hits different after you see it on tv :(
Any movie that doesn’t look like a tv show or Netflix original looks better on the big screen honestly.
Just say you prefer to watching films in the comfort of your own home but there’s differently a difference when it comes to picture quality and sound.

For me it picture is slight difference sometimes, but sound is way better in theaters.

Ay man like I said my setup is great so theres no ruining the experience with me.

idk I’ve seen 2049 in theaters and own it on 4k. My tv is also a 65 inch Sony 4k and I can honestly say it still doesn’t compare to watching it in theaters.

Seeing Parasite in a theater a second time (after the movie got some buzz) is one of the best experiences I can remember having in a movie. Hearing the collective gasps and laughs, with everyone edge of seat.
Same with Uncut Gems actually.
I'm legitimately sorry you didn't get to experience any of that.
Tbh I’m really only basing this off Netflix rn
Cause let’s be honest, aside from their Oscar fair, Netflix doesn’t have many GOOD original films.
Some are enjoyable, but not of great quality. I mean Netflix drops new s*** weekly that they never promote because they have so much of it. A lot of it isn’t really good.
The standouts are there like Mank (tomorrow
), Marriage Story, etc.
But for every one of those, we get like 2 of a Hubie Halloween, Kissing Booth, Hillbilly Elegy, etc.
I would hope that if this is the future, Disney, HBO, Prime etc. don’t take this approach. Only time will tell
You gotta remember Netflix wants to be a one size fits all for everybody. They aren’t just trying to s*** out Oscar worthy content for guys like us because if they did they wouldn’t have very many subscribers. Netflix goal has always been to be the new replacement of cable. So in order to do so you have to also have the bad, cus believe it or not movies like Hubie Halloween, Kissing booth, etc. is what’s bringing in subscriptions. Causal tv watchers like corny s*** like that.
I treat it as if it ain’t for me then I ignore it, but truth of the matter is Netflix has really great original content like the ones you named plus The Irishman, Da 5 bloods, and more. They are also really good at picking up great films from festivals and picked up a few impressive ones these past few months.
At the end of the day it’s always going to be “here’s 2-3 movies for the casuals to keep subscribers coming in, and here’s 1 movie for you true film lovers”, I don’t think will ever get to a point where quality films is being produced at a higher rate just because quality films take longer to perfect and make. So in the meantime while the next “Mank” is being made they drive in there dollars by s***ty out quick fast food flicks.
Anyone thinking a loss of theatrical releases means that you just can't watch your movies in a big room any more is delusional.
Production values are gonna DISAPPEAR.

Tbh it sounds like you might not care for the actual experience and more so just care for the actual film. Nothing wrong with that. But for me seeing something like Endgame ina crowded theater made the movie experience more enjoyable because of the energy everyone had when something happened. You can’t replace that in your home.

Thats cool bruh but I dont need a crowd reaction when I watch movies. I've seen em both solo at home and with homies so either way its whatever to me.

netflix makes content at a way faster pace than wb and disney or any other studio tho

Yeah but one is able to be replicated and one isn't. A solo viewing at home can't compare to an effective collective viewing at a theater.
Same goes for stuff like IMAX 70mm and stuff. Some things just can't be replicated at home.
Not to mention the fact that without theaters, production values of film/television series will go way down unless the costs of said streaming services SKYROCKETS.

Right, I’m worried that it could be a possible future tho
S*** Disney is already a machine so

Bruh its not that I dont care for the theater experience. Its simply me just being fine with either watching it at home or at a theater. Im not bothered either way cus I'm getting a great experience regardless. Saw Endgame in theaters and at home and both times were cool. Im not gonna s*** on someone for wanting to see it at theaters cus I get it yall like the experience of the crowd being there with you. I just think its whack how theres certain niggas in here turning their nose up like you're doing a disservice to the directors just cus you watched the film at home. Thats all
