I think it’s because Prime is a mix between Vudu and Netflix. They haven’t really committed to a side. You can buy movies there and also stream for free the content they have rights to. To me Prime always been a service that’s on the fence.
Interested to see how the LOTR series performs
This really could set precedent for theathers falling down :( if other companies follow wb it is a matter of time :(:(
Overall film quality going down the toilet
That's what I'm assuming too. What's your take on it?
Because Endgame is the peak cinematic experience?
No, but come on now would rather watch it at home with subpar speakers. I know that some people have speakers that are damn well on par with theaters, but 100 foot screen>>>>65 inch tv.
Imagine choosing to watch Uncut Gems for the first time at home
Forreal tho. Watching Uncut Gems at theater>>>>>home.

This is fine for 2021 but it’s almost guaranteed to be wildly successful so with that in mind:
• Theaters will primarily exist for big Avengers esque blockbusters
• Theaters in small towns and mid size cities will close down leaving multiplexes and indie theaters in large cities.
• Overall film quality is going to drop with the mindset of quantity > quality (see Netflix)
• Most film budgets will decrease
• Streaming prices will increase
Did this and it was great
Yall gotta relax with this "watching movies at home is whack" narrative
It's not whack imo and I understand why people choose home over theaters. But there some movies that you get a different experience in theater vs home. Like Parasite, Uncut Gems, Endgame. I know they're all recents but that's what I can think atm.

This might be a hot take
But aside from small theaters closing down I think this could be a good thing
We’ll get way more niche medium budget quality films imo and less s***ty mega budget blockbusters
Doesn't this make piracy way easier cause they can just rip it from hbo max?
I think people overplay the significance of piracy.
I think people overplay the significance of piracy.
Yeah i know the people who pirate aren't the type to go to the movies so the revenue isn't affected much I'm just guessing they would have HD / 4K rips earlier if movies drop on streaming rather than just having the camrips first.

-Yes to that
-Yes that too
-I agree because seeing Netflix, they've only had about 5 good movies I can think off the top my head. Quantity>quality because of streaming wars.
-Idk about that because I've been seeing some crazy budgets for some in-house Netflix productions.
-Netflix will eventually be $20 for a single plan. Watch.

Tbh I’m really only basing this off Netflix rn
Cause let’s be honest, aside from their Oscar fair, Netflix doesn’t have many GOOD original films.
Some are enjoyable, but not of great quality. I mean Netflix drops new s*** weekly that they never promote because they have so much of it. A lot of it isn’t really good.
The standouts are there like Mank (tomorrow
), Marriage Story, etc.
But for every one of those, we get like 2 of a Hubie Halloween, Kissing Booth, Hillbilly Elegy, etc.
I would hope that if this is the future, Disney, HBO, Prime etc. don’t take this approach. Only time will tell

I just got the notification for the 4K family plan that I split is going up to $17.99 next month
I am so weak @ Christopher Nolan thinking he was saving theatres but just ended up killing them even more
I've been seeing take everywhere. Why are people saying this? Is it because its lackluster domestic performance proved that studios should push it back or put it on streaming?
Anyone who didn’t see this coming was just being naive
I mean, not this extent though.
Pretty smart tbh, Idk what else they could plan to do, it's gonna be too risky to depend on pure theatrical releases for a while, and home viewing has only been growing with our with out Covid.
Movies are my favorite art form but I've been at terms with the fact that they're becoming more niche as the years go on, and that's totally fine. The future of theaters will be massive, massive films and more niche cinemas that play older films and more unique stuff. It's gonna become more like a museum IMO, that's fine with me.

Blaming anything other than corona is dumb as hell.
Crine imagine not having a 100 foot screen in your house with 500 speakers, rumbling seats, and dual 8k projectors
So this is what you spent that quarantine money on
