Personally I like believe in that stuff. But scientifically back that far is a lot harder because they didnt keep records like the Romans. My understanding is that academics think SOMETHING happened and it was probably exaggerated and mixed with other older religions. Really interestingly, over time a lot of stories and characters in the Bibles like king Solomon were thought to be mythical figures but with new technology we’ve found proof they were real people.
