Aināt Mike dean fix donda too
Or am I big trippin
I wos 2 late
I caught a waveā¦
Aināt Mike dean fix donda too
I thought Mike Dean said he not working w ye no more
Probably the realest thing Iāve ever read from r/GAS:
I remember a while ago on here someone was talking about how they disliked V1 and I read a comment at the time that basically said, with the degenerative mental illness + rest of the Kanye circus- weāre in a sort of mass sunken cost fallacy/diminishing returns situation where weāre never going to win more than we lose now. The idea that Kanyeās this mad volatile genius who lets things deteriorate to the point where his backās against the wall and then he pulls out some beautiful undeniably great piece of art that shuts the critics up is an over-romanticised holdover from the dark fantasy era lol. I agree that things began to slide for all the reasons u states, but up until v1- even on albums I donāt like like Jik- I still thought there was some sort of intellectual vision for them- even if they were poorly executed. Some sort of conceptual grounding that felt interesting and worthwhile exploring that sort of tied the disparate ideas together to some degree. Jik obvs itās Jesus and on Donda itās that but made a lot more personal and executed infinitely better. But even musically he was trying a drum less āminimalistā aesthetic that seemed intentional and heād make interesting, weird, occasionally polarising exec prod decisions. But it still felt like he was at least directing these albums. V1/2 has none of that mystique whatsoever. Theyāre albums that basically function as playlists, and when the songs arenāt at all tethered to anything greater than the sum of their parts- their flaws are laid all the more bare.
Whilst Iām discussing this- I also just want to add something that I donāt see brought up enough. Kanye has become a pretty dreadful MC in terms of vocal delivery. This I think started post Pablo but has become steadily more prevalent on every album. On a lot of tracks (especially noticeable on something like keys to my life where it sounds like heās actually struggling to stay on beat on what is an extremely conventional and quite slow time signatures) he has this āitās 4am in the studio and Iām rapping these words as I read them for the first time in one take and that engineer can splice it together for me and I canāt really be bothered to be hereā energy. Even on something like off the grid- yea the third verse is good, but Jesus Christ- itās not some no more parties level because itās obviously 80 different takes of him saying someone elseās words that are spliced together and thus no energy or momentum builds through his performance. Itās also an issue on take of your dress. And honestly most songs from vultures. He doesnāt write, he doesnāt produce and he doesnāt sound interested lol.
He is 100% washed and a bit of a joke figure in 2024 if u pop ur head outside this Kanye bubble long enough to breathe air. Look at how the like that verse was ridiculed from the moment it dropped lmao. 2016, even 2020 Kanye is getting the benefit of the doubt on that one but post Hitler and post everything else- people can see through the bs because theyāre just beginning to not really give a f***.

Worth the read if you actually care about Ye
I'd like to see the whole team on Vultures 2 minus Ye to band together and make a song like Slide.
Travis Scott is not a real friend for hopping on can u be while ye was in a nitrous induced rage

like i dont mean to defend ye, he's pretty shot
but i also dont like using some meh collab albums clearly influenced by Ty whose entire style is a drain on ye's potential.
i'll wait for the solo to call him officially shot
Trab been on there buddy
Not on the version I had saved brother
It should not have made the final
The bigger issue is the fact that he has nothing interesting to say and rap about anymore.
Also, he's regressed into this "burn everything down" 4chan dweeb

I love DONDA but how does something like OFF THE GRID make it out the lab with all the vocals cut ins like that
Can we still consider that song classic with something like that

great post. I couldn't articulate it better myself. the parties over. he's officially washed.
I want Ye to stop or at least slow down, but I think we'll continue to watch him publicly crash out until he's dead or broke.
Best case scenario Ye retires in Japan and becomes an indie game dev making VR p*** games.

Yes
Do you remember when the most recent ye rap output was Jesus is king
