Yeah Vince, like a few others came up in that late blog, pre streaming era where they could grab a good core fanbase and also gain enough brand recognition amongst casual listeners that allows them to still feel fairly relevant in 2026.

An artist way more talented could debut in the few years before or after him and not have nearly as long of a career as him.

People underestimate how good coming up in that era was for artists careers and not just rappers.

His personality also does a lot of the heavy lifting. I'm sure the majority of people sharing Vince Staples clips in 2026 have never listened to a Vince Staples album front to back.

Facts. After 2015 or so that type of unique just left of center that could make an occasional hit type artists completely disappeared. After 2016-2017 you almost didn’t exist if you weren’t a previous legacy act or in some sub-pocket of trap or plugg

Yeah it was pretty much impossible to find success in that semi conscious lane after 2015. You're either a forgotten TDE/Dreamville signee or floating around in that realm of artists.

  • Ramona Park is a masterpiece. Name a better album this decade

one of the most underrated discographies in rap, and ive been saying that for a long time

people would rather focus on Vince Staples the personality, but man, the catalog is good

Last album was his first miss imo, the content was good, and i loved the message. But i need him to tap into the BFT sound again, crazy that he hasn't

When it came out at the time a lot of people wasnt f***ing wit it.

In the 2010s the “urban” audience was a lot more ignorant to electronic music but partly because we was going through one of the worst electronic music phases of all time (dubstep/crackerstep howevr you call it that s*** was positively AIDS audio) so I tally it up to PTSD.

It’s hilarious the 180 thats been made on albums like those.

Also it’s just not his sound he himself said part of bft was it helped him get movie placements.

meh I think all of those things helped him build his career and stand out at first but over time he just became one of those rappers that has the potential to take it to another level but can't put the pieces together.

Pretty sure even he realizes that otherwise he wouldn't be trying to do s*** like the vince staples show.

He's extremely lucky to have come up in the era that he did around the people he came up with otherwise he would be like a post-Isaiah Rashad TDE or Dreamville tier artist.

That's where his talent level is. Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of artists more talented than him that could only dream of the career he's had.

also I wouldn't call anything he has done in music taking a risk tbh

How does a rapper trying to branch out to other avenues indicate they're not confident in their music? That's like saying 2013 Ye his heart wasn't in music anymore, that's why he's trying to do fashion

Also don't agree with not taking risk, probably has one of the most diverse sounding discographies of current mainstream rappers. BFT sound was a risk for him, the sound switched up again for that S/T and RPMBH era, his last album was rock
