It's almost like that's the whole point of the scene and the symbolism in it, especially in this frame
Also, these people still have their families and Carol was the one left completely alone, and even tho they not actually their relatives per se they are still in a stage of denial about their family members not actually being themselves
If the show wants us to see them as in denial, I don't think they did a good job of showing how that mindset would look. Even in a state of denial I don't think they'd be so low energy.
I believe it's supposed to illustrate a entity that 'frees' them, and provides them with bliss which the 'person' that they are/were is surrendered to because of said bliss. They can still act/be the person you want them to be or are used to, or.. can they?
I do wonder where this now goes though, because I reckon 'It' has a plan for all of life, right? One that's probably a lot more peaceful and more beautiful than what regular human beings make/have made of the planet. But as one identifiying as a 'regular human' I imagine Carol would have a problem with the things it'll want to do for it goes against her perceived sense of individuality.
tldr; it plays with the concept of surrendering to one consciousness, one greater being, losing what you think is ''your'' self in favour of it. even if it 'is' greater, it's not necessarily great for your conceptual 'self'
all the discussion and this being a weekly show. We needed this
all the discussion and this being a weekly show. We needed this
Imagine the world where this was a binge.. everyone would’ve already watched it all, discussed the ending and cliffhanger, engaged with some post-finale videos and discussions etc and in a week or two, it would be out of the conversation already
I can't wait to see how this show tackles s***for Carol. We didnt really see much of Kim's sexual side on Better Call Saul so it'll be very interesting to see how Rhea plays it. I imagine s***with the hive mind would be such a conflicting mix of Hot and Embarrassing.

I just think it's super interesting, it's bound to be something Carol considers, and they're already setting up the sexual tension with Zosia.
This s*** gave me some f***ed up dreams last night man.
tried to show my friend this show cuz i know she’d like it (esp ep2) but ep1 was too freaky for her to get through. On rewatch it is kinda creepy tbh, mostly ep1. Ep2 sets up what the actual show is going to be but the initial invasion was pretty intense and horror-like don’t y’all feel?
I thought she’d be good cuz she loves Severence which is also kinda creepy/ominous sometimes
Similar premise to the book “All Better Now” but not identical, this should be fun

It shows it perfectly with the Laxmi woman (the one of the five who has the most screentime besides diabate) and her son, in multiple moments.

I only know that because someone posted the book itt when this show was announced so I went and read it to get an idea of the show

I don't buy it.
I think Twin Peaks is probably the goat pilot but this has gotta be in the top 5 for me
you don't buy what
I don't really think repressed denialism would be a typical response to such an event. I think our sense of loss would kick in when faced with the irrefutable fact of these intelligent beings replacing our loved ones. Additionally, I don't buy that character as being in that state based on the way she acted. She'd have to be in a state of crazed psychosis that I wasn't buying in the performance and writing.

you're crazy unc
The first stage of grief is denial
It’s very likely these characters are in a state of shock and have no idea how to process what’s going on other than being in denial

It was for these few people, not for carol for example. And the little girl who actually wants to join them.
I feel like what you need was the character being written and performed over the top just to get the point across
